3. Because family reunifcation is a solution

intended to improve our immigration system by focusing on helping immigrants. Chained migration is more dehumanizing, and it describes family reunification as a problem.

4. Because the "family values" theme doesn't appeal to their sucker voters any more.

We saw a real family when Obama was in the White House.

Trump doesn't have anything resembling a real family in the Christian sense of the term, so it would be political suicide for the Republican Party to even talk about family values or family reunification.

And besides, Republicans are very racist.

7. It's the multiplier effect

They do this to magnify the "negative impact" (in their minds) of immigration. Each new immigrant isn't just that person, it's every family member also living off our welfare system (again, in their minds). Therefore, what you thought was one 'violation' turns into many. It's a way to make the problem look huge, even though most of us know it's not a real problem at all.

12. I personally think "chain" migration is a dog whistle.

Meant to conjure the idea of people who came hear long ago in "chains" that were considered "savages."
