ok, folks. the time has come for the kaching kaching.
the website is still getting tweaked, so let me know if anything weird happens, or if anything isnt apparent.
please go to the menu, and read the position pieces.

we do suggest amounts, but anything you can do will help a lot.
we dont need a lot to get through the primary, so small change really can help us make big change.
and remember- the bottom of the ticket CAN AND WILL help the top of the ticket. if she gets on the nov ballot, every voter she brings out is a voter that will vote to send peter ro-scum off to spend more time w his family.
if you cant help w money, please knr.
ps- the writing is all mine. so anyone who wonders if my shift key works will see that, like it says on my resume, i went to good catholic schools, know the rules of grammar, and use them for my clients.
pps- it would be great if people went to the "get involved" page, and sent her a note of encouragement.

(40,416 posts)That makes it difficult to read. Also, break it into short paragraphs for the same reason.
Otherwise, it looks and works very nicely.
Go, Sheila! Go!!

(40,416 posts)A paragraph should automatically word fill every line until the end. Then, a blank line to separate the next paragraph. The mark-up might be just some simple HTML. I haven't done mark-up in years, and the last time it was LaTeX, not HTML. Also, I have no idea what Web interface software you are using.
Good luck. Maybe somebody else can make some suggestions.
mopinko
(69,982 posts)those line breaks are not in the code. sure not there cuz i put them there.
someone else did the guts, and handed it over to me for the copy, etc.
still bangin my head on it. thanks for the input.

(30,481 posts)"Dupage County Cities List"
If you have time you could link those to the cities webpages. That wouldn't do much but would be nice.
"Terms and Conditions" goes to a "Oops, This Page Could Not Be Found!" page.
There are some neat links on that page. Not sure about the "Shopping Cart"
I would probably do something to make the donate button stand out more.
"The days of Democrats not bothering to field a candidate in many races is also over. This
election cycle there are Democratic candidates in all but 2 races.
The days of white, male lawyers running Dupage County to the benefit of their cronies is over.
The time for Dupage County to have fair, representative government is here."
I think there is some comma abuse going on. Commas actually look like periods with the font being used.
Really a good looking page considering this is not what you do. Like it a lot. Really good positions. +1
Again, really good.
mopinko
(69,982 posts)gotta find a better looking one.
thanks for the input.

(30,481 posts)Really nice. It's a huge load off someones plate during a time-consuming moment. Getting these things off the ground, setting up a headquarters, getting volunteers and mailing list..... It just takes up time.
I had great luck getting volunteers for a campaign I was helping on. I went to the local college and put fliers on their boards around campus. I didn't think it would do much good. The following Saturday a number of great kids from the college came in. Most all stayed through the campaign, including doing the dirty work of door to door. I found out at that time that a number of instructors in certain fields give additional points for volunteering on campaigns. It was too late for me to use that info then but I now know I should have also left copies of the fliers outside of the teachers lounge or worked to make more direct contacts. These young whipper snappers have energy.
Good luck.

(69,982 posts)i am pretty cool w it now. still a little frustrated, but finding stuff.
the writing was a blast. my sister is not a bad writer, but my time here at du has helped me sharpen mine. that and making buttons, which was a great writing experience. grinding things down to the sharpest 4-8 words, tops.
i'll see about the college thing. unfortunately, not college deep like chicago, but there is a community college. (not gonna bother asking at wheaton college.)
thanks for the tip.

(1,629 posts)Go sister Sheila Rutledge IL D6. Thanks for taking this on.
Shelia has a good shot here. Per Cook Partisan Index, this an R+2 district (District 6) in Illinois. Loathsome Roskam is vulnerable. Let's replace him.
mopinko
(69,982 posts)petie is goin down.
her district, i mean, not his.
Sorry can't donate...however, Shelia Rocks!
Sent her a contribution, but would be interested in knowing how much Paypal takes out of it. If someone sends $100, how much does she net?
mopinko

(54,268 posts)I hate giving Paypal $2.50 for doing practically nothing, but others are worse (Act Blue takes 3.95% before the credit card fee even kicks in! Candidates I support get checks).

(41,832 posts)She wants to start online courses for (Democratic) candidates on how to market themselves.
She has a marketing agency in Portland OR. When she called she wanted to know if anyone on DU might like to BETA test her idea (for free obviously)
Send me a PM or answer here if you think she would be interested.
Oh, we are Facebook Friends too...lol ( Nancy B )
mopinko
(69,982 posts)i am pretty much the marketing person, among other things. you can never know too much.
tell her to fb friend me?
I gave her the link and she wrote back... yes, way too much text on that webpage.
She asked me to write a stand alone post about her ideas. I'll do that a little later after coffee.
