Dems are weak, Republicans are treasonous criminals.
I want out! This country will never get better. |

8. His word is good because he can only pull this stunt once...
Senate Rs will need D votes on almost any bill they want to introduce. If he promised the Minority Leader to call a vote and then reneged, he wouldn't get anything passed for the remainder of the term.

11. There is a language difference between "consider" and "hold a vote".
He has not gone against an agreement with Schumer.

16. Okay
But, McConnell doesn't have the authority to make promises for the House! We already know that the House will never hold a vote for a fair and balanced Dreamers bill...then what?

20. i think the house would have held this up anyway...
...and then we might have ended up with nothing except a broken government that probably runs better when its shut down

10. knock me over with a feather...
I got into a tit for tat argument with someone on here about just this...
And I made the innocent comment of: "I've heard this call before, let's see if it actually happens." and here we are. color me surprised. if you can bet on one thing and one thing only, that will be for the Dems to cave. |

.. we are giving the GOP ONE LAST chance to do the honorable thing.

13. No wonder Republicans appear stronger than Democrats.
The Republicans held out when it came to Obama's Supreme Court nominee. I understand that the situation within the Senate was a bit different because Republicans controlled bringing the nominee to a vote. But now we are stuck with Gorsuch and our Democratic leadership is about to cave on the Dreamers and the budget and CHIP. No way should Democrats be so weak.
What is more, the wall is an unworkable, crazy idea. Many countries have built walls. They all crumble and are circumvented. You have to work with your neighbors and get along with them. |

14. No matter what
Trump comes out of this looking worse (if that is possible) IMHO. It gets settled in Congress and he locked himself away all weekend seemingly doing nothing.

15. I think Schumer and Democrats are doing the right thing at this point.
DACA and budget need to be decoupled at this point.
I want DACA, and a path to citizenship. But it was no longer smart to block funding since GOPers are on record saying they will bring up the matter within weeks. It's clear, we weren't going to get DACA by "standing strong" on budget bill. I know we are desperate for wins, but save it for the Congressional primaries and local races coming up in months -- getting out the vote will send the strongest message to trump and GOPers. If it takes it to free these kids, give trump some money for his crummy wall. Let him lay the stone and wire, or cut ribbons all along the border, for all I care. We can paint "screw trump" graffiti on it and tear it down. The darn thing isn't going to get built as he envisions it, anyway. |

17. I agree and I think we also have to trust that they know what they are doing. They are not new
to this 'game'. That is why I think it is critical to have experienced people at the helm. I'm all for fresh faces but many seem eager to just 'throw out' the old.
I also am not going to worry about the wall...I don't think it's going to be built how he envisions it AT ALL. |

18. chuck and nancy arent stupid and they know the costs of keeping gvnt open...
..and they know the costs of keeping it shut. I'm not going to second guess either of them. They know their job and I don't. The GOP is happy to see the country go up in flames. Thank gawd our party is country before party.
We came out looking like the adults. After all we are the ones who opened our gvnt up again. The damned neutered GOP cant even do THAT without us. We are a force to be reckoned with and I put my trust in the leaders of our party. I'm proud of what we did and how we did it and WHY we did it. |
