Assuming that we absolutely dig in on DACA CHIP and the wall.. and assuming that

Republicans don't want this hanging around during state of the union address. What are McTurtle's options

1) negotiate something that will allow both sides to claim victory ( doubtful given their position)
2) cave
3) change the filibuster rule and bypass Democrats.
4) wait for Democrats to cave

3. They have nothing left to lose now.

The writing is on the wall for the midterms...

I'm expecting government by simple majority from here on out.

4. he doesn't have 50 votes on his side,. Four republicans voted against cloture.

...so ending the filibuster won't get him there.

Option #1

5. I don;t expect a filibuster rule change...as that would pretty much make conservatives

useless when the democrats take back the Senate and follow their lead....The options are going to be controlled by who America sees as the cause and continuation of a shutdown. Whether or not republicans care is another thing if they view a shutdown as a PR issue for Nov election. We will know in next few days where its going and for how long.

If we here threats of stopping social security payments, then is is going to go on for a while as a political hammer to hurt as many americans as possible and concentrate attacks on democrats as the culprits
