Just finished watching the Netflix sit-down with Letterman and Obama.

One word just kept jumping off the screen about Obama:

DECENCY

Many other words come to mind as well, all complimentary.

If you have Netflix, you really must watch this hour.

1. It was a balm to my weary soul to see and hear President Obama again, especially this weekend.

5. Watched it twice. So far.

I just think about how the right had to vilify him after 1/20/09. He was successful. He was everything our history books wanted in a president. So proud of Letterman for admiring him.

6. I didn't know that Letterman had been fired from his show. He was fired?

I thought he left on his own.

7. No, he wasn't fired. Its a self deprecating Letterman joke with Letterman delivery.

He announced his retirement at least a year in advance.

8. I remember his announcement. It was right after Fallon's opening show on Tonight Show.

But you can be told you have one year on your contract & we're not renewing. I'll take your word it was a joke. I think he would've said if he was being fired, or word would've gotten out. He made a statement as to why...he said when he saw Fallon's show, he said to himself "Man, I can't compete with that," and realized it was time for him to get out..leave it for the next generation.

9. Your thread reminded me to watch it. Thanks!

I wish all six episodes of Letterman's long-form interviews could be with Obama, just Obama.

A couple of things struck me about what terms the distinguished president must have set prior to the sit-down with Dave:

1) Mention of the Obama Foundation (not surprising)

2) No asking Obama to critique the current POTUS. Dave invited John Lewis to do that, and Lewis obliged. Obama obviously elected to steer clear of running down Dolt 45. I'm sure he wanted to keep the tone more uplifting. Consistent with Obama's admirable character.

Dave holds him in high regard. He couldn't hide it.

10. Intelligent, thoughtful,

able to speak two sentences without repeating himself.

Those were just a few of the thoughts I had while watching it.

How far we have fallen/
