Trump Supporters Attempt to 'Arrest' London Mayor

Far-right supporters holding aloft American flags attempted to perform a “citizen’s arrest” of London mayor and Trump critic Sadiq Khan on Saturday.

Khan was delivering a speech at the left-wing Fabian Society when protesters from a group called the White Pendragons, shouting pro-Trump and pro-Brexit slogans, disrupted his talk, according to multiple reports.

Khan on Friday had said that President Donald Trump had “got the message” that he was “not welcome in London” after the president canceled a planned state visit.

In a video posted on Twitter, one protester says "Ladies and gentlemen, we're here today to make a non-violent, peaceful citizen's arrest."

As security appeared to usher out the protesters, they were jeered and heckled by the crowd who had come to see Khan’s speech.
But one protester refused to leave.

"We stand under common law jurisdiction,” he said, as quoted by Sky News.

"If you touch us, you'll be done for common assault. Please stand back, do not touch us.

10. exactly.

See my post below. I've had to deal with far more of them than I like - and yes, one of their phrases refers to common law - even though they haven't a clue what it means.

Interesting English mythological reference, but I'll take the Welsh Y Ddraig Goch (The Red Dragon) any day.

9. Common Law Whack-a-doodles.

They were the worst when I was drafting opinions for an appellate court judge.

They grab bits and pieces of law from various sources (even when they have absolutely nothing to do with each other), and string them together to argue why the court has no jurisdiction over them, or they aren't required to register their car, or have a driver's license, etc.

It's obvious they have absolutely no legal right to whatever the heck it is they are claiming, but since you're actually bound by the law it takes pages to counter the nonsense.

Sort of like trying to both require Conway, in the midst of one of her gish-gallops, to not only answer each question and to explain why the unrelated nonsense she is spouting is completely irrelevant.
