Somehow, we have to convince Trump that he could outsmart Mueller in an interview

That he's so much smarter than Mueller, and a completely unrestrained interview would result in Mueller declaring Trump innocent and resigning. This would make Trump overrule his lawyers and be eager for the interview.

Although I think a little reverse psychology would work better. He hates being told he is unable to do something. I'm guessing his lawyers pressing him to not meet with Mueller could be spun that they don't think he's smart enough to handle it. Looks like a job for Twitter.

All Mueller has to do his play good guy at first with some softballs and ass-kissing, and then shred him when he drops his guard.

an acquaintance of mine was involved in a serious crime and I watched his lawyer do this with a cop: played with his heartstrings and then tore his heart out. All the evidence in the crime got tossed
