Whoa. Holmes friend saying it WAS the video games.

-SNIP-

It is believed Holmes was due to be kicked out of his flat and may have recently broken up with a girlfriend, while one friend said his addiction to video games meant he had lost touch with reality.

-SNIP-

Neighbours told TMZ anyone living in the block had to be enrolled at the university otherwise you had 30 days to evacuate.

It is not known exactly when Holmes stopped going to classes but it is thought he was nearing the end of the 30-day grace period.

A former classmate from the University of Colorado suggested another cause for the killings, saying Holmes had lost touch with reality after becoming 'obsessed' with video games.

...to describe a person with actual standards desensitizes people to the true meaning of the term.

When Romney becomes CEO of the USA and corporate policy becomes law, who will we compare their racist, classist, anti-intellectual, anti-gay, exclusive agenda to when the obvious comparison has been rendered meaningless because of its application to everything from soup to President Obama?

The gaming industry and geek community have been fighting this bullshit for years.

Then they will run out of steam just short of Grand Theft Auto, where you can sleep with a hoooker, then kill her and get your money back.

The mountains of evidence that we was not a video game addict?

I must have missed all that.

So he was obsessed with video games? And he gunned down dozens of people?

So the video games caused him killing people?

I think not. Isn't it more likely that his obsession with video games and his shooting a bunch of people were both caused by a different trigger. Possibly that the guy's barking mad?

Okham's razor!

However, it is interesting to see how defensive some people get when the subject is broached. Instead of debating the point, they want to protect or justify their own hobbies, interests or obsessions.

But I don't believe we can ban or 'cleanse' video games as a way to keep the nuts from going nuttier.
