One of the things they have been up to at Camp DavidJeffrey Toobin Verified account @JeffreyToobin Jan 5 More You heard it here first. There will be calls for a criminal investigation, and probably an actual F.B.I. investigation, of the Democratic nominee for President in 2020. Doesn't matter who it is. 1,589 replies 11,452 retweets 33,459 likes Reply 1.6K Retweet 11K Like 33K Direct message

I love Franken and am pissed it happened the way it did. I think they were aware of more crap- maybe even just and endless rehash of stuff from his comedy days. It’s unfair and I love Franken but I wonder what sort of oppo research they looked at? In my heart I do believe it was a set up. Sucks all around.

3. That's what they did in 2016. Several of them actually admitted it was all purely political
They based everything simply on "trust" with Hillary. Of course it was just piggybacking 25 years of empty attacks on her.

11. if we learned anything from the 2016 election........
it is that the perception is more real to voters than reality. Sounds absurd but we've seen the GOP exploit this so many times and the Dems still always seem completely caught off guard by it.

We should be alot more scared than we actually are. We're at the 242 year mark now;a danger zone. Everybody needs to start waking up before it's too late
And may the Republican Party implode and never recover from this. Ever! |

7. Sadly, that is quite true. And the GOP is out to take this country apart. None should stand by and
let this happen, problem is, far too many Americans often don't seem to care, they're in their own little worlds, too busy to look out of their ruts of life at the big picture of what's happening to their country.

9. Hmmm
People are awake -- Hillary WON, for one thing. Also, you may not have noticed the Women's March last year? It was not a one-off, but the beginning of a wave of women signing up to run for political office all over the country.
Did you sign up for Indivisible? Are you following your Senator and Congresscritter on FB? Are you signed up for the "flash" protests nationwide in the event that Mueller is fired? This nation will not be finished until we stop Resisting and Persisting. I am reminded of the cardboard sign I saw in a photo from a major airport after the infamous Muslim Ban. "FIRST THEY CAME FOR THE MUSLIMS, AND WE SAID: NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKERS." Enough with the FUD. Not today, Donkeypoofed. |

16. I think you and I have run into each other in the past. Possibly on another site.
I not only follow my Senator, I cheer on one (Casey) and call and email the other one incessantly (Tommey). At 74 and not the healthiest chick on the block, I will be at the local Women's March near the end of this month. I live in a Thug area so it won't be large but it will be noticed anyway. If Mueller is fired, there will be a sign in my yard, a main highway passes my door, and I will be out on the streets with others. If we are not willing to fight for our rights, we don't deserve to have any in the first place.

Except for a couple of spinoff sites, I'm not registered anywhere else, and haven't even posted at them in quite awhile. So it's just DU. We're close in age -- it's amazing the cycles one lives thru, yes? I'm not sure where the Women's March is going to be, since I moved to a new county several months ago. Your post is a reminder to me to ask a few activists if anything is planned locally. Last year I bussed 100 miles into Los Angeles. ![]() |

31. Don't kid yourself. They go after a person's strengths (like being a war hero) and twist them...
...past recognition.
John Kerry served his country in Vietnam, honorably and courageously, as a Swift Boat captain. Then he came home and opposed the war, which also was an act of courage in those days. He testified before a Congressional committee and famously asked,"How can you ask a mother to let her son be the last to die in a war that is a mistake?" (I am paraphrasing from memory here.) Kerry went into politics, and was clean. He ran for president against George W. Bush. By the time the Repubs were done with him, "to be Swiftboated" and "Swiftboating" had entered the lexicon as terms for taking someone's achievements and turning it against them to devastating effect. |

27. How Much More Of This Crap Are We Going To Take.....
from these Repugs & Trump?
If this is what Tobin believes the Repugs will pull in 2020 - then immediately the Dems got to speak up and difuse their strategy. If the Dems tell the American People today that this it what the Repugs will do in 2020 - it will take the wind out of their sails. Our Dem leaders need to be more proactive and vocal and they need to fight fire with fire. Low road - high road. BS. We need to get on the same road and beat them at their own game. |

30. My advice
Always be a skeptic. I've heard Toobin talk, and he stutters just as much as the schills. He's a TV ego and I cant bring myself to flatly trust an opinion paid to take a side, despite that it may be my side.
I question motivation and numerous other things. Im not easily sold pretty flowers. |

Not exactly in love with him either.
But in this case, he speaks the TRUTH. It's the thuglican play book. They have one on all of the Dems, and we KNOW they're not ashamed to use it. Dems unfortunately are always caught off guard as someone said in the thread earlier, or they go bopping along thinking that the American people are too SMART to fall for "it." Kerry and Dukakis for starters ring a bell? Great guys, but politically tone deaf in many ways. |

In my world, Toobin is a opinion columnist. Just because he's cheering for your cause doesn't mean he's right, but more likely, he has something to sell.
He's the PeeWee Herman of political analysis. Sorry, but I don't need my thoughts validated simply for validation's sake. However, I do respect your opinion. I'd like to hear more of it. ![]() |

I am so goddamned tired of the republicans getting away with the shit they get away with. If they do that to our candidate, then we do that to theirs. We need to start fighting back and giving them a taste of their own medicine. I so fucking hate these people!

36. If they do that to our candidate, then we do that to theirs.
I have MANY friends who STILL believe that Dems should "Stay above the fray." "Don't sink to their level."
They're "purity" sorts who won't "sully" themselves. ![]() I explained to a few who now get that playing by Marcus Queensbery rules will get you killed in today's political climate, and that thuglicans/fatso want to MURDER/KILL you by taking your health care AWAY from YOU in this latest tax scam bill, before it really got going. They saw that it was/is TRUE. THEY NOW GET IT. That we're in a life or death fight with a murder in the GOP/fatso who are wielding damn MACHETES. Fighting them with a Marshmallow isn't the answer. Several of them STILL are not THERE yet, and would rather be "ADULTS." I say yeah, if you're stricken with a chronic disease (Cancer), and your treatment/cap limit is met, that's IF you have health insurance at ALL, you won't make it to adult hood so to speak. A friend's son has cancer and she's scared to DEATH of what'll happen to her son. He cries most nights and wonders out aloud WHY the president hates him so much and wants him to DIE by taking his health care away. |

That is really a sad situation and I despise these pigs for what they are doing to people like him. It is so incredibly cruel. Selecting the Leader of the Free World is too important to be left to voting by the plebeians of the United States.
