Those eye-catching shiny objects

I honestly don't get it. Media will most likely spend the next few days (or more) talking about Michael Wolff's new book. We'll learn more about Trump's scalp reduction, listen to discussions about why Wolff was allowed so much access to the west wing. The pile of mind-numbing glistening objects will be the talk of the town. There may be some new nuggets in Wolff's book, but we already knew Trump is a liar and unfit for the office he holds. We knew he's a scam artist that uses anyone and everyone. We knew he doesn't respect the law, our traditions or history.

Those shiny objects like Wolff's book take our attention away from the dangerous, Trump-fed inferno lapping at the edges of our Constitution. Wolff's book is like the 12-inch maple near my bird feeders. The flaming danger zone created by Congressional Trump enablers is like a giant sequoia.

I'm horrified at what Republicans in Congress are willing to overlook. I'm sickened by their practice of putting their country last on the list of things they're willing to defend. Every day there is another principle they're willing to discard, another lie they're willing to tell, another crime they're willing to excuse.

Russian meddling in our election doesn't concern them. Voter suppression doesn't concern them. Joking about nuclear war doesn't concern them. Trump's weekend visit with Ryan Zander McConnell at Camp David will probably produce even more troubling situations they'll all be willing to normalize. We must be unyielding in our determination to stop these traitors.

we now have a new D in the Senate, narrowing their majority to 1. We have new D governors elected and new Ds in state legislative branches nationwide. This means some of the most draconian things can be slowed down even more or even reversed. Thousands of new Ds plan to challenge Rs this year, at all levels of government.

If you think that the release of a book somehow makes people (at least those who frequent DU) ignore what else is going on, then IMHO, naivety is coming into play. The "inferno" started a year ago so it is nothing "new". The protestations against it have been going on continually just as long and as a result, there is a prediction of a blue wave to come this year. Keep in mind how many Rs have decided to "retire" at the end of their terms or have already resigned know it is coming.

So what else do you propose people do outside of what is already happening behind the scenes?

Just a personal preference, but I'd rather hear media have in-depth discussions about what Devin Nunes or Dana Rohrabacher are up to then 24/7 coverage of Wolff's book.

Nunes and Eddie Munster's brush-off of DOJ's plea to have the traitor back off.

What more do you think can be said about them?
