5. I wonder how many of the pizzagate pushers were actual people

On twitter, if you go to the advanced search options, you can search a username using time constraints. It's not uncommon to see that the older accounts were either dormant or cleared up to the date when they started tweeting crazy stuff. So, there might be an account with a join date of 2011, but there were not tweets until 2016 or later. Either they deleted the previous tweets or the account laid dormant. I've come across a few where the old tweets still existed, but they were totally opposite of their current tweets. Just the other day there was a pro-trump account that was pushing some fake news stories in favor of Trump. I went back about four years and found their tweets were initially very anti-US and anti-west. I called them out on it and the account was eventually self-deleted. If you're a user of twitter and you haven't taken advantage of the advance twitter search, then I highly recommend you give it a go. It's very satisfying to spoil their fun.

9. Is Frum a Democrat now?

or just a Republican in the Resistance?

Is he going to help elect Democrats? Encourage and support Republicans in Congress to stop Trump's agenda until Democrats can take back the House and Senate in 2018?

Or is he just the same disgusted and disgusting conservative elitist he's always been?

Serious question.

REMAINING REPUBLICANS?
Deplorable.

oh and also Canadians who seem to be experts on America

Still, i thank God every day that we even are allowed to have something like MSNBC on the air.

I used to hate that guy when he worked for Shrub (GWB) but he's making a lot of sense now.
The Democrats need a bulldog like Richard Painter.

Don't worry, MSNBC isn't going away.

Because if he isn't, then he's just another Republican whiner without a portfolio, like Frum.

22. I doubt whether he is or will ever be

an ally. His business is being a paid talking head on teevee, and a Twitter whore seeking approval from hashtag The Resistance. I place little to no value in what elitists like he or Frum say ... even when I agree with it. Consider the source, and don't forget that these people never change their stripes.

14. Any republicans worth their salt who want their party back...

should be advocating for electing democrats. It's clear that the current republican party won't change as long as they remain in power, and they're not going to give up their playbook while it works. The only way they're going to change is as a result of demoralizing electoral losses over several cycles. So if they are serious about change, they need to be advocating for democrats, even if they want to still call themselves republicans.

19. I don't think any Republicans

of any stripe are very much interested in your lecturing them about what they should do.

But they thank you for your concern.

I don't believe Frum is converting any Republicans or causing any to have second thoughts about supporting Trump (that are not already having those thoughts, that is). He's just getting paid to be on MSNBC. A lot.

He's a coherent dissident voice on the right. Pfffft. Nobody over there is listening to him.

I'll wager big bucks that in a few months he'll be backing John Kasich in 2020. That's just a small part of why I don't care WTF he's Tweeting about now.

33. Pardon me

I thought this was a discussion forum.

Please proceed (but if you're mindful of the forum's courtesy rules, you'll avoid the casual insults).

Essentially I don't understand the concern trolling of Republicans. They're not reading here for the most part and wouldn't be giving a hoot about self-improvement if they did. And it does nothing to help get Democrats elected.

And why would you wish to give advice to help the GOP anyway? Why offer a Republican party that almost elected a child molester to the US Senate last month any tips on getting better? What's the point of that?

Why would anyone on this forum want the Grand Old Pedophiles to learn some lessons about humanity, and decency, and common sense, and shape up in time for the midterms?

36. You are pardoned

That said, I'd like to suggest that it may be you, rather than me, who is in need of courtesy rule reminders.

Yes this IS a discussion forum, which means we're permitted to differ in our opinions..In addition, I'd like to say that I doubt anyone here is interested, in giving "advice to the GOP". As you mentioned, they're not listening anyway... Perhaps you've misinterpreted the motives of those who are simply interested in EXPRESSING their feelings..Everyone is not in strategy mode 24-7, especially on boards where, again, Republicans are unlikely to be seeking advice.

Have a nice day.

39. Good question. Can't say for sure.

That goes for both him and Jennifer Rubin.

I will say that Frum was ahead of the ball even before Trump announced as a candidate.

I remember a piece he wrote for the Atlantic which pretty much destroyed the Russian propaganda about the situation in Ukraine in 2014. Given that so much of that propaganda was being repeated here on DU by a small but dedicated group of followers (most of whom have long since left the building), I wanted to post it as a rebuttal. But I feared it would be dismissed outright due to Frum's former resume so I didn't bother.

In retrospect, I think I should have gone ahead and posted it. Whether a new convert for Democrats or simply a right leaning Never Trumper (a la George Will), he strikes me as a smart cookie.

Here's his 2014 pieces from Atlantic, FWIW:

So much was weird in 2017, but perhaps the weirdest was that people who nearly triggered a pizzeria gun massacre to stop imaginary child molesters rallied to support an actual child molester’s campaign for US Senate

18. Hmmmm

Yes, weird and hypocritical.

If anything, Evangelicals were exposed as morally (not to mention logically) bankrupt. That Luntz focus group the day before the election was incredible--the excuses and pretzel logic in defending Roy Moore. As well as finding out Bannon actually believed several of the women' stories but went ahead and attempted to discredit them because . . . winning at all costs, even if you sell your soul in the bargain.

23. Contrast what Frum is Tweeting with what

John Dean is Tweeting.

https://www.democraticunderground.com/100210045204

Dean is spot on; Frum is just white noise (and somewhat of a distraction from the work needed in 2018, that Dean is pointing out).

27. Frum is a conservative voice against #45; that has value in itself.

I wouldn’t dismiss it as mere “white noise,” either. While Dean is 100% correct regarding ultimate goals, speaking out is also vital, particularly with conservatives and Republicans who want to be rid of the Trump cancer. There aren’t many of those, so their voices are important in the overall effort to discredit and throw tRump in the flush file.

Dangle this weird insane crazy and hideous thing out there to get it out of the way and off public consciousness so the real McCoy can waltz into the spotlight. After all, who could believe the same subject twice? Only those crazy insane pinko liberal Democrats, and you know they'll believe anything if it's bad for Republicans.
