He was probably teething on politics. Imagine the family dinner conversations he grew up exposed to. They have politics in their DNA. I think he's probably as ready for presidency as any other seasoned politician. That's an assumption, but probably accurate.

Warren would be great, but she could not win, beyond a Dem primary. We would lose in a landslide.
Gillibrand. Too much baggage and she has double crossed too many people. Flip flops on the issues. Not electable. Another landslide loss. I like Cuomo, but he generates a lot of hostility. Too risky. Too easy to beat up. Where is Cory Booker? Great VP Brown has the midwest thing going for him. Kennedy has charisma, intelligence, and he is a good speaker. |

for her against Trump. Useless vote. She can't win. I know a past Dem Party Chair, who says, he won't vote for her because then we have no standards, just like the Repubs. I would never vote for any trumpster, of any stripe. I have never voted 3rd party. Never voted Repub for Prez. Hopefully, a few Repubs will be wearing stripes by 2020.
Booker needs to be on the list. Love Warren, but loved her more before she rolled on Hillary and Franken. Mostly, she can't win. Hated by half the voters or more. |

61. Most candidates are going to be hated by half of potential voters, but we cannot afford to...
to not vote and allow their candidates to win from low turnout. The problem is that when we don't vote for a candidate usually that means we aren't voting for Senators or Reps either. There was a large enough contingent of those who wouldn't vote for Hillary because they never thought anybody would elect Trump and look what we got - we lost the Senate and Trump slunk in.
I will definitely vote for Gillibrand but she's not on the short list. I think Adam Schiff should be added to the short list, too. |

Not going into Michigan and Wisconsin, as it might shake things up...a hundred other things.
She has also been beaten up so much, she is cautious about taking risks. The thing is they were going to bomb her no matter what she did, so she needed to be a stronger freight train than her RW Haters. Trump had nothing to lose, so he took all risks. Win, win for him. |

it shows that polls are supposed to read and not lead. Her advisers took her negative numbers too seriously. She needed to turn the undecided, the haters were never going to change either way. She could only have won.

It could have turned out differently. If the DNC had not been in turmoil, if she had had an experienced campaign and they hadn't ignored ground troops feedback, blah, blah. I'm still angry.
Of course, there was Comey, cheating, lying.... As Obama said, and this is similar to the talk AAs have with their kids, we have to be way better than they are to win. He implied this is because of gerrymandering, they hold the cards now (all 3 branches and states), cheating, lying, etc. They will find new ways. True, common campaign wisdom is you don't take risks when you are ahead, but there will always be the last minute Swiftboating. |

43. How exactly would one do that, short of working constantly for Dems and the Dem party?
http://video.foxnews.com/v/5691013437001/?#sp=show-clips
from Martin O'Malley: 'Today I am excited to support Cindy Boatwright For South Carolina House District 99 here in Charleston. Let’s go knock on doors and win back your state!' "Dont be distracted by Trumps attacks on the free press. Fight the tax bill. Don’t let them bankrupt America." --- Martin O'Malley #Democrats2018 #OMalley2020 OMalley tells Dems not to fear Trump. 'Former Democratic presidential candidate Martin O’Malley is urging Democrats not to be afraid of President Trump. "Donald Trump is a self-basting turkey," said O’Malley, who recently launched a new PAC focused on helping Democrats win state and local races. "A lot of people who voted for him are embarrassed about his behavior." In a recent interview with The Hill, O’Malley explained why he believes his new PAC can yield big results for his party — and why Trump doesn’t represent the future of the United States. Pointing to a Democratic sweep in local elections last month, the former Maryland governor said his party’s economic message is steering the country back on course after Hillary Clinton’s loss to Trump in the 2016 presidential election. "I was elated, but not surprised by New Jersey and Virginia," O’Malley said, referring to two of the states in which Democrats saw major victories in November.'>>> http://thehill.com/homenews/news/361291-omalley-tells-dems-not-to-fear-trump e.mail from MO'M 11/21/17: I wanted to make sure you heard about our exciting news: Last Thursday, I launched Win Back Your State PAC. Our PAC will primarily focus on helping state and local Democratic candidates win elections nationwide in 2018 and beyond, while also aiding federal candidates. There are 36 Governor's offices up for grabs in 2018, which will play a vital role in the next Congressional redistricting in 2020. If we want to protect against things like the latest Republican tax plan, which favors private jet owners over working families, then we must succeed in winning back our states. Democrats made huge electoral gains this year, especially in this month's elections. But, we have more work to do to win back our states and win back our country. Join us. Yours, Martin O'Malley P.S. Check out my interview on Matter of Fact with Soledad O'Brien where we discussed the latest round of Democratic victories and what is at stake next year. http://matteroffact.tv/fmr-gov-omalley-democratic-candidates-dont-need-national-party/ 4 |

We survived two Roosevelts, two Bushes, no problem with another Kennedy.
Pretty sure the Kennedy name recognition and family ties will resound with a lot of older voters. His relative youth and energy will resound with a lot of millenials. He seems pretty progressive, if not as much as Sanders, Warren or Sherrod, but good enough to attract a lot of people who are looking leftward in this semi-fascist time. But, as I said, I'll vote for ANY Democratic candidate if the alternative is Bozo. |

I guess I'm with Biden until a better alternative comes along, the only thing that matters is that any candidate be nationally competitive and Biden will be competitive places that Hillary wasn't but it's all for naught if any of our rising stars deliver an identical electoral map to that of 2016 which I fear is the best possible outcome for most of them. I don't know that Biden can win without Obama but if I had to take a chance on any of the presumptive nominees it would have to be him.

For president: someone in their late 50s/early 60s with extensive (at least 10 years) experience in government at the state or federal level. Some of that experience should be in an administrative position. I want someone who is well-versed in how the federal government and its agencies operate because they are going to have to undo the mess the current administration is making.
For vice-president: someone 5-10 years younger, also with some government experience at the state or federal level. I'll support who ever winds up on the ticket, though - once we get past 2018. |

but not as stridently as Kamala Harris.

101. Of that group
Brown or Gillenbrand. None of the rest, except perhaps Warren, can beat Trump, and beating Trump is the paramount issue. Why didn't you list Booker, since I think he might be the nominee?

106. Of those?
Warren or Gillenbrand.
There are others I'd support first, and they aren't Sanders, Clinton, or Biden. If Sanders ran, I'd support him in a heartbeat, but I'd rather keep him in the Senate and move forward. As for the other 2...no. Just no. Some others I'd consider: Nina Turner Lucy Flores Zephyr Teachout There are others, but I'd start here. |

132. Establishment wisdom...
which isn't all that wise.
Sanders is the most popular politician in America. I believe that he'd win if he ran again. The three? If Donald Fucking Moron Trump can win, I'm not afraid to put lesser-known people forward. If I, and millions of other progressives, have to be limited to establishment candidates, I can guarantee that enthusiasm and involvement will also be limited, which will lead to more losses. Democrats should be, in my opinion, more invested in moving forward than in protecting and defending the old, failed guard. But that's just my perspective. I'm sure no other voters out there would agree. ![]() |

135. Sanders
is a well known politician.
Those three are not. Teachout barely was a blip on the radar in the two elections she ran in. The other two have held state representative offices for a short time (with Turner getting crunched in the one statewide election she ran in). in the one election Turner ran and won, she was unopposed. Flores lost elections for Lt. gov, and for congress (in the primary). What do any of those three have that show that they can win on a national level? |

145. They've got these things
that attract me:
1. They are outside the establishment 2. They are women 3. Two are also WoC 4. They are NOT neoliberals More and more voters are looking for these qualities; too many "well-known politicians" don't have them. Maybe Trump was well-known to some tv watchers; I admit that he wasn't well known to me, although I was aware of him in the periphery. If I have to stick to "well known," some of my top choices are not at all practical; they are too "controversial," meaning they are too willing to publicly step outside proscribed political boundaries. Sanders would be my obvious first choice for "well known." My own Senator Merkley would be another. I'd rather leave them both in the Senate and go forward with fresher, and therefore less well-known, choices. |

He's such an awesome progressive and talks BACK! I'd put him on as VP with anyone with a spark - which half the list lacks, but he'd be great on a ticket with Sherrod Brown.

152. He has been extremely proactive lately - I'm in NY and there's something in the news everyday
Just today he came out for more wind power, for placing a new cap on carbon emissions and called for legislation to combat sexual harassment in state offices. And earlier this week he had a proposal to ease student debt and for ending "lunch shaming" in our public schools.

128. You can leave out whoever you want, but I'm for Biden
My two cents. We need a truly vetted candidate who everybody feels comfortable with.
My suggestion is that Joe Biden runs, declares during the election that he will serve only one term. Kamala Harris is his running mate and Biden explains that she will be his successor in 2024. Trump loses and everyone else wins. |

161. I agree and he has experience which we need to undo trashbags crap. He also knows everybody
domestic and foreign and they know him....THEY LIKE HIM. He needs to undo and repair the damage trashbag has done around the world and at home.... Joe can fix it!! He can win the general and isn't that the point here? Harris as his running mate - absolutely.
I'm open to any combo that I think can win the general. Sorry but it's about likability and personality first. I do wish that wasn't the case but I'm a realist. I really laugh at folks who say "Warren" ..I mean of course I like her...but to think she can win a general is just really far fetched in my opinion. |
