1. In 1961 or 1962, I went to Disneyland in CA

with a high school Honors Society group. For the first time, I went into the Animatronics exhibit, where an Abraham Lincoln figure stands up and gives a speech. It was sort of a forerunner to this Hall of Presidents exhibit. Several other kids from my school went in to see the show at the same time.

We sat down and waited for the performance. Finally, the figure of Abraham Lincoln began to rise from his chair to speak. What happened next was unexpected to say the least:

As the animatronics character reached the full standing position, we heard a "popping" sound. Following that, Honest Abe toppled forward and landed full face on the floor. The lights came on and we were summarily ushered out of the room. In the confusion, we didn't even get our "E-Tickets" returned to us.

We never did get to hear what it was that Lincoln was going to say...
