Please stop using these Republican framing phrases:

It's not "Tax Relief" or "Tax Reform" - It's "tax evasion".

It's not "Lower Taxes" either - It's "borrowing money we don't have to give to billionaires".

It's not "Regulatory relief" or "Less government" - It's "abusing power to get away with crimes".

It's not "Virtue signaling" - It's "calling out racists".

It's not "Political correctness" - It's "not being an asshole to people".

It's not "Strong defense" - It's "war mongering".

It's not "Family values" - It's "legalizing sex predation".

It's not "Pro Life" - It's "forced birth into poverty".

It's not "the Religious right" - It's "attacking everything that Jesus said to do"

There are more of these, and you're welcome to add them.

Note: Even the DU uses Republican phrases like "Tax Relief" in their graphics - which is why I wrote this. LOOK AT THIS: "to provide massive tax relief" ?!?

1. Whoever frames the deabte wins the debate.

Think of the death tax, rather than what it is, a tax that affects the top 1% of the top 1%.

Think of describing regulations to insure public welfare as tyrannical government overreach.

Recommended.

4. The Death Tax one is my personal pet peeve

That one belongs to Frank Lunz who is one of my least favorite people. He is has a reservation for a special place in Hell as being the wordsmith and salesman for some of the worst policies in American history.

I nearly broke my radio when I heard him defending that term one time. Vile motherfucker

9. EXACTLY. How are WE framing things? I have called for much more robust "marketing" of our ideals

and have been shot down by others here, every time.
Sorry, I know that none of us here need it, but MILLIONS of folks who might vote Democratic NEED "bumper sticker mentality" ideas presented to them, it's the ONLY WAY TO GET THROUGH.

14. I think their use of "Pro-Life" is brilliant

right up there with 'Death Tax' in terms of powerful, powerful framing.

5. Stop saying GOP. There's NOTHING grand about that party.

What they are is "repukes." It's like what a dog does with its vomit.

7. My pet peeve is "defense spending" (used by both major parties)

The vast majority of what the Pentagon spends is not necessary for our defense. It's not even intended for defense.

Those expenditures should always be called "military spending" (which is objectively true even if you think that it is defense spending).

8. It's not the death tax--it's the brat tax!

It's not "putting more money into your pockets" - it's stealing from the American people.

It's not "entitlement reform" - it's theft of our earned benefits.

13. Yes! Be careful with language. Been saying this for years & pointing to George Lakoff.

RepubliCONs studied this over 40 years ago and began doing it in the late 70s.

Framing issues with language is a large part of the CON!

15. Next up: "Entitlement Reform"

Which the corporate media will call the upcoming massive cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and their wet dream Social Security.

Peace
