I want to thank everyone for their kind words of support

I was so hoping I could save that precious baby and looked forward to watching her grow. I'm still in a state of shock at how fast and unexpected she left me but I had a great session with my therapist, yesterday, and between that and the kindness of my family and friends , especially those on DU, I will just pick myself up and continue to care for my fur babies.

and shocked as you at her sudden death, and knew it was so hard. Thank you for making her last hours full of love. And thank you for all you do for all the precious little ones in your care.

I am so glad your session with your therapist was good, as we know how stressed you were before the rescue.

Huggggggggs again.

2. Saving these hypoglycemic, cold babies abandoned so early by their mother is so damned tough...

The odds were definitely against but you definitely gave it the best chance. I lost an abandoned baby rabbit this way last year (and they are particularly unlikely to survive, but I thought I had found it pretty quickly) so I know how readily you lose your heart to the little ones and become obsessed that they will make it-- despite the odds.

You just need to look around your house full of kitties and those outside to see the success of your efforts.

It will make you wonder how any kittens survive:

Human strategy is to have one offspring at a time and devote all their energy to that offspring. Cat strategy is to have a litter and eliminate the weak ones and hope one or two kittens from multiple litters make it to breeding age. It seems cruel, but we'd be up to our armpits in cats if they all survived. You and I wouldn't mind that but most people would and the cats wouldn't like it much, either.

It never gets any easier, but I would not have it any other way. The warm fuzzies from successes makes up for it. Your heart is big and full of love and that is the important thing. Keep rescuing and spreading the love!! Please don't let a sad event like this stop you. Hugs.

It's always hard to lose such a precious little life, but when I fostered I learned you can't save every one. You just have to do your best & focus on the ones that live & thrive & make sure they become loving companions for some lucky human.

Don't feel bad. You tried.

You likely would have felt worse if you had done nothing.

It is not possible to save everything.
