U.S. President Joe Biden on Monday slammed the International Criminal Court prosecutor's application for arrest warrants for senior Israeli officials including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling the move "outrageous".
"And let me be clear: whatever this prosecutor might imply, there is no equivalence - none - between Israel and Hamas. We will always stand with Israel against threats to its security." Biden said in a statement.

The argument is the ICC has no jurisdiction, legitimacy, and authority with its claim of universal jurisdiction over citizens of every country, which violates principles of justice, fairness, and due process.

Trials and investigations at the ICC take place behind closed doors, and the public has little access to information about active cases. Due to this lack of openness, the ICC comes under criticism for bias and unfairness which lead to suspicions and mistrust regarding the activity of the institution as a whole.

(26,115 posts)Someone needs to apprehend the "fugitive". It's almost alway local law enforcement. The ICC doesn't just swoop down and start arresting people. In order to be arrested, you need to be in a location where someone will turn you in. The ICC isn't gonna descend on Israel. ICC isn't going to invade Gaza to arrest Hamas fugitives.

(1,710 posts)the US real power has to do with Security Council Veto. Across my life, the US has invoked that many times on behalf of Israel against majority votes of the General Assembly.
Frankly, I don't see what does Netanyahu have to fear, really?
He's innocent, I am right, aren't I?
Moreover, he has Israeli and international resources that can attempt and undoubtedly succeed in an intervention regarding the arrest warrants.
