A story to share

When I was 25 or so I was sideswiped badly in my brand new truck.
I jumped out and ran over to the obviously stupid driver to scream at them.
I arrived at the other car to find a group of nuns returning to the convent, and quite shaken,
I instantly revert to the ten year old schoolboy,
" Are you all right sister, is there anything I can do for you?"
I still laugh thinking about how they deflated my anger with a glance

I need to invent a new word, can you help?

I am very lucky when it comes to parking.
Even in a very crowded place , one opens up for me just as I arrive.
This has been going on for years! My family and friends all know about it.
It keeps happening in all sorts of different settings , the mall, sporting events , parades,
even just on the street in a crowded part of town.
Why isn't there a word for this?

I've been having run ins with bad drivers.....

Every red light is like a little show-down,
squeezing in and blocking out , over and over again.

And recently I keep seeing folks in brand new cars
making white knuckle traffic moves,
And getting away with it.
Part of me admires the one who passes 20 cars
to squeeze in at the last possible moment
part of me feels bad a move like that would never work for me.

I need a new outlook.

I accept the jury's decision

a few of my thoughts:
I was not there that dark night and have no idea what truly happened
I didn't watch every minute of every day of the trial.
I caught up with evening news coverage.
I missed a lot, I am sure.
Beyond a reasonable doubt is a very high hurdle to get over, with good reason.
I think most people on juries take their responsibilities seriously.
I am hesitant to put much faith in "man in the street" reactions to jury verdicts.
" Not Guilty" and Innocent are not the same thing
I wish more folks prefaced their opinions with a touch of "I could be wrong, but here's what I think..." humility.

We, as a nation, have got to stop turning trials into TV shows.
Every time we do,
it turns into a shitstorm.

Thank God I'm a Country Boy

I well remember loving this song and being thrilled by how different it sounded than anything else on the radio.
Its might be the song that made me go and explore country music more fully, and for that I am grateful.
He is an artist who enriched my life, what better legacy is there?
