What would you give these infants to calm their rash?

How Did We Become...

Hateful Little People… ?
I just pondered Freak Kitchen's ultimate little question…

They never tell you face to face
They are the one and only race
They always smile and are polite
They go through life in black and white (Hey!)

They close their eyes and all is bliss
They always scent a prejudice
They cannot spell hypocrisy
They're everywhere, they're you and me

How did we become
Such hateful little people?
How did we become
The scab that we are?
Is it coming through
Hateful little people?
How did we become
The scab that we are?

I hate you, hate
You hate me, hate
Hate ourselves, hate

Bernie Sanders… A Man On Fire!

August 23, 2015 12:00 AM By David M. Shribman / Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Well, well, well… If it isn't one of the best, "My Point" opinions I've read from him in a while…

EXETER, N.H. — There was a man with a “Stop Puppy Mills” T-shirt and another whose shirt read “National Sarcasm Society.” There was a woman, dressed entirely in white, holding a banner reading “Lead Us to Clean Energy.” There was a man with an Apache haircut. There was even a little old lady in tennis shoes.

This could only be a Bernie Sanders rally.

And the lady in tennis shoes? She was here mainly out of curiosity. She voted for Mitt Romney in the last two New Hampshire primaries.

Then there was the candidate himself. He wore a dress shirt, open at the neck, and his speech started early and ended late. He used the word “billionaire” more than half a dozen times, and he sprinkled his talk with references to “Corporate America.” He spoke about big campaign contributions (he has none, wouldn’t take any) and the “grotesque level of income and wealth inequality in America” (he deplored it) and won his biggest applause when he said, “This is a rigged economy, an economy that is not sustainable, and that is not an American economy.”

But he wasn’t done yet. In the sweltering confines of the Exeter Town Hall — every seat filled, the back of the hall five deep with standees, the balcony jammed and every one of the seven granite steps outside occupied with the devout, the devoted and the determined, all drenched in heavy perspiration — he launched into his speech: full employment, the Citizens United decision, gay marriage, voter suppression, the Trans Pacific Partnership, student debt, climate change, acidification of the oceans, access to abortion, energy efficiency, the criminal justice system, prison reform, mental health and crumbling infrastructure. In one sentence he crammed in the words “racism,” “sexism” and “homophobia.”

It Takes a Pillage, 2009, when Bernie Sanders interviews Nomi Prins

(Courtesy of visiting Max Keiser's web site)... Thanks for reminding me of this CSPAN interview, still as vital to our understanding today as it was then...

It's really hard being a woman in Texas these days… concealed tampons!

I checked and didn't see this come up, as it's from July 12th, so forgive me if it's a GD discussion already … b u t P L E A S E….

Women are being forced to throw out tampons and maxi pads to enter the Senate gallery, which has been confirmed by DPS. That's right: menstruating women are being denied entry to the Senate gallery unless they throw out their supplies.

From Daily Kos… https://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/07/12/1223118/-Police-Make-Women-Throw-Out-Tampons-Before-Entering-TX-Senate-Gallery-While-Allowing-Concealed-Guns

Maybe we shouldn't conceal them anymore… You know… All a woman has to do to step up to wear her concealed weapon on her hip, and hang the unused tampon from her ears.

I'm glad I got out of Texas when I did….

How about a SINCERE WilliamPitt Appreciation Thread?

I don't like game players on DU…

Sometimes I miss the point of snark or superiority, but I could ALWAYS understand where Will was coming from…

Robert Ariail nails it on Clinton's social platform...

Day two of riding with my Bernie bumpersticker - my first APPLAUSE!

I think I'll start carrying my extra bumper stickers in the car with me. I was in the driver's seat. My husband spotted the guy advancing from our right, flailing, first he wondered if it was anger. But as the other driver got farther ahead, you could clearly see his enthusiasm.

BUMPER STICKERS …. connection with the human race happens…

I know this isn't about me, it's my brother… May I ask???

I noticed from comments that whenever there's a question, the group responds…

My brother, who after 40 years of marriage, then divorce, then "adjustment" to find himself, had a girlfriend who finally, after searching around, seemed to be "perfect". I know that nobody is…

Long story (and it is a long one) short, she has dropped him after deciding that he is just to rough for her rather ideal everyday expectations -

1) No tolerance for swearing (she even spelled, "h.e.c.k." when mad)

2) No tolerance for forgetting to call her by a certain time (which he was pretty damned good at doing)

3) No tolerance for "not getting it up" (this was the strange one.. he's in his 60's and I have to say, that's a tall order sometimes)

I could go on, but after playing "Dear Abby" and asking him to honestly analyze this strict regimen, I find that she was pretty predictable as to what she would say and how she would say it relating to every day phone calls, and weirdly, in the bedroom. Now, before you think I'm strange for getting this involved into the discussion, you have to understand that I'm pretty honest with siblings. Frankly, after the years of marriage and what my brother thought it was going to take to "keep a girlfriend", he has analyzed so much with me, that I've asked if he could ask others, especially professionally. I don't want to give sex advice. What I'm really wondering is the controlled nature of this woman. There are too many things unknown behind that kind of control that give me pause. I and my sister have advised him to steer clear. Somehow, he keeps thinking he ought to be able to have a chance again.

There may be many more issues brother-wise… I'm just wondering about the over 60 dating and relationship thing and if this controlled behavior from his now ex-girlfriend was a sign of much stronger issues with her.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance…

Tonight, Bill Maher was ON...

I hated the right wingers, but loved the guest comedian and discussion about our prison system…

Anyone see it?
