Pictures from my garden this year

Hey Gardening Group, felt inspired to share some pictures from my garden I took today. I got my first ripe tomato today, which beats my personal record of July 3rd, thanks in part to a hot, dry spring (usually not the case, most tomatoes in our climate don't ripen till August even).

I've been gorging on fresh lettuce salads, broccoli, chard, beets, spinach and peas already. Soon will be getting tomatoes, peppers, squash, cukes, potatoes, beans, etc.

big views:

Server issues this weekend.

One of our servers is having issues this weekend and it will disrupt image serving as well as connect ability for a portion of users.

We are trying to get ahold of our isp to get the server fixed, but in the meantime anyone experiencing issues reaching the site can use the address sync.democraticunderground.com instead of www.

Thanks for your patience.

There was a software glitch affecting about 250 threads in General Discussion

The affected threads were posted roughly between 11:30am ET on Tuesday, Oct 28 and 1:30pm ET Wednesday, Oct 29 (today) in the GD forum only.

We have copied over the affected threads to a bug-free database table, but there will be glitches associated with these threads lingering. These can include bookmark and journal links being broken (delete from your journal/bookmarks, then go back and re-add them), views and recs counter being reset back to 0 (sorry, nothing to be done about it) and a small number of replies being lost.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Starting an asparagus patch

I'm trying to start an asparagus patch this year, and I planted my crowns about a month ago and have yet to see a single sign of life. How long should it take for shoots to emerge? I'm becoming worried that they're not going to come up. Are you supposed to start when the weather's cooler, maybe I waited too long?
