thus it came to pass that Rush Limbaugh, he of the famous
weight/drugs/truth problems, mentioned our little website
twice on his radio show last week. "Don't go there!"
Rush told his listeners, describing the terrors that lie in
wait for unsuspecting dittoheads. Funnily enough though, many
of Rush's fans chose to ignore his command to avoid
Democratic Underground - which is convenient for Rush since
it clears him of inciting a denial of service attack.
But anyway, you'll be unsurprised to learn that we received
literally hundreds of emails from outraged dittoheads last
week, so the cream of the crap has been selected for this
special Hate Mailbag. This time the emails have even been
separated into separate sections to highlight the bizarre
similarities in dittohead thinking (okay - it's not that bizarre).
As usual: these emails have not been edited in ANY WAY,
except - unlike Fox News, who give out the unlisted home telephone
numbers of people they don't like - we have preserved the
anonymity of the senders.

I'll admit it - I didn't actually hear Rush's radio diatribe
about DU that prompted so many of his fans to send us this
flood of high-quality emails. But I'm going to go out on a
limb here and guess that he said something along the lines
of: "Liberals are hypocritical because they're supposed to
be tolerant, but they're actually hateful." Why do I think
he said that? Because his loyal troop of mindless robots simply
parroted it back to us. Witness "independent thinking" at
its finest...

absurdity, there is a another theme running through the emails
that Rush's fans have been sending us over the last couple
of weeks - yup, it's the old conservative fallback of calling
us "communists." The people sending these messages
are clearly way behind the times - these days it's much trendier
to call us "anti-American" or "Saddam
lovers" - although it's possible that Ann Coulter's recent
defense of Joe McCarthy has made the "communist"
insult au courant again. But come on guys, I mean really.
We won the space race in 1969. The Berlin Wall came down almost
fifteen years ago. The communist threat is over, unless you
count that mad guy with the big glasses and the nuclear bombs
that Dubya keeps provoking, or the sad old bearded guy who's
always dressed up like a soldier. Come on now. Let's have

Finally, we come
to the true heart and soul of Rush's audience - mentally retarded
cavemen. But there's a catch - when I received the following
messages, my bleeding, compassionate, liberal heart was almost
rent asunder. Why, I asked myself, why do we as a society
allow these poor folks to slip through the cracks? When all
they have is a radio tuned to Rush Limbaugh and a computer

the kind of help they really need. I realized that it was
time to give something back. But what could I do? How
could I aid these unfortunate individuals who are barely clinging
