Freeper Doug From Upland poisoned CNN on Will Pitt
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/824732/posts

CNN HAS BEEN INFORMED WHAT WHACKJOB PITT REALLY THINKS OF THEM
dfu | 1-17-03 | dfu

Posted on 01/17/2003 5:28 PM PST by doug from upland

Because JimRob does not want the name of the site mentioned, it will not be mentioned here. But you might find this interesting.

The co-author with Scott Ritter of a silly little book about Iraq is a whackjob named William Rivers Pitt. Pitt has been bragging that he has been talking to the CNN producer about going on the show.

I called earlier to let them know a little bit about Pitt. Whether that had any impact at all in keeping him off the show I cannot say.

I know we didn't need any more evidence to prove what a whackjob he is, but his latest action is really amusing. While trying to get on the show, he is badmouthing CNN behind their backs. Well, now CNN is in possession of what he has said.

After speaking with an assistant who knows who Pitt is, she gave me the e-mail address and told me to send the info to Molly Levinson. Here was my e-mail to the show: (newsnight@cnn.com)

ATTN: Molly Levinson

Molly, I thought you might like to know what a possible guest, William Pitt, really thinks of CNN.

Here is the link of what he just posted on the (redacted website)--- http://www.(redacted).com/duforum/DCForumID60/29044.html#13

BELOW ARE THE STATEMENTS FROM THE (redacted). Behind your back, he calls you "The Great Whore." He wants to be a guest but he mocks you. For your information, Pitt has taken his site www.WillPitt.com offline probably because he does not want people to be checking what he has written. He has actually put in writing that Ronald Reagan, through Ollie North, sent the bomb to Beirut that killed our Marines. He writes on all the anti-Bush internet sites and lives to do political damage to the president.

WilliamPitt Jan-17-03, 04:46 PM (ET) It is a NO-GO for me on CNN tonight (for now)

They are going in a "different direction" tonight, so I am off the hook.
BUT
She wants me to call her on Monday morning because they want to cover the protest in DC this weekend, and I told her I'd be there with Pacifica. So keep that karma coming.
And thanks.

====================================

I gave them my full name and my phone number. You have to just love the rascal. He is begging to be on the show while calling CNN "The Great Whore."

If anyone would like to call CNN, the personnel for Aaron Brown's show get there about 2:00PM Eastern. I suppose they will be there now since it is an evening show. 212.714.7800

5. We're in a bit of a bind with these media people.
LAST EDITED ON Jan-17-03 AT 10:39 PM (ET)

We confront them for their whoredom, which is absolutely true and correct, and even when we're being nice about it though it's still a condemnation of their very livelyhood, perhaps even their selfworth.

However they are by nature attention seekers, so when we're berating them (or just enlightening them), holding the mirror up, the "others" are sending them flattering messages and making us look petty!

PS~ I have an ex-fiance that works for one of the big three news networks in NYC. We talk about these issues weekly and I can tell that when I bring up relevant objections, and she spews out the party line, that she's horribly embarrassed/frusterated/compromised.

Kid gloves? I don't know...

6. I wrote the producer too...
....and pointed out some of the press DFU has gotten over the years (remember that rant in Fresno where he wished for the death of Alan Dershowitz?), and pointed out some of his "writings" such as the one fixating on naked protestors.

I also pointed the producer to Dan Moldea's sendup of freepers and some of their dirty tricks.

8. They posted his staff's phone number at Freeperville, eh?
Could go a long way towards explaining his outrage.

Talk about folks with no shame, you should see some of the freeper posts on my Computer Voting Reform petition. I can only imagine what they said to his staff (and perhaps make it seem as if it was at Will's bidding).

The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices - to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children...the children yet unborn.

And the pity of it is...that these things cannot be confined to...The Twilight Zone! --- Rod Serling

9. What a great endorsement.
Since CNN wants ratings, what a better endorsement than to pit Pitt against Aaron Brown. I hope the freepers continue fomenting this little sweeps winner-in-the making. I don't know why CNN wouldn't be up for it, since it would erase any doubt from anybody's mind that they're Liberal media.

here....(and there are many, I think) would run with it. But, on the whole, I'd take Will Pitt's body of writings and weigh against one Friday night thread.

What's Doug in Upland ever written that's worth reading? Must have a pretty boring life to be snitching on a poster here....as if this is a private board.

42. If Doug in Upland is in Upland, IN
then his life is one huge orgasm of pathetic ugly boredom.
Damn, that Upland is such a pathetic crossroads with a fundie university, Taylor U. On a par with Falwell's and Robertson's 'colleges'.

Any sane person who ever went up there was bored out of his freaking skull after 15 minutes. A majority of the student body thinks flashlight tag is just too cool. Obviously, being in Upland has sent Doug over the dark edge into the abyss.

reads like the writer was sitting at his keyboard wringing his hands with an orgasmic smile while playing the role of "rat informant".

I mean, what's the big fucking deal? Why would CNN care if some guy doesn't like them in order to have them as a guest on the air? I mean, does this imply that the rat thinks that it's CNN's policy to only have beaming adulators on as guests? What fucking elementary school grade is this guy emotionally retarded at?

Too bad they don't have two IQ points to rub together though. Has a freeper ever authored a published book (Regenery or anywhere else)?

And if dozens of them call CNN about Pitt, it just confirms that Pitt has weight and his opinions reach a broad audience. There really is no such thing as bad publicity.

Was Barbara Olson a poster with a day job like teaching who rose to the top just by telling the truth in a persuasive, intelligent and energetic way?

Here's what he wrote:

To: Petronski; TLBSHOW
I sent a warning e-mail to Aaron Brown with some of Pitt's statements. He has a paper trail with a plethora of amazingly stupid statements. Also --- please phone at 8:00 AM Eastern tomorrow morning to warn them -- 404.827.2600.They particularly need to hear that Pitt has put in print that the bomb which killed our Marines in Beirut was sent to the Middle East by Reagan through Ollie North.

36. Hell you could damn near buy a whole cow for $50.00! How am I
supposed to be able to relate with someone who could spend 50 bucks on a hamburger. Hell if I get to buy two 50 buck video games in a year I feel lucky. What a freaking rub in everyones face attitude you can have. When your rich and can waste money like that. The dudes and dudettes that can eat those Burgers are voting for the Court Appointed Bozo`s Tax Cut for the Elite! I would say. Good thing my payroll taxes will pay for it. If I still continue to have a job. Reading of all the job loses in the News everyday. It is getting scary.

44. It's obscene
Especially considering that CNN is watched all over the world, including poor countries where $50 US goes quite a ways for a large family.

29. Good idea...
My bet is that Freepers overloaded CNN's phone lines babbling about Will Pitt which CNN took as coming from DU et al. Add to that the actual DU emails, and the result is Brown calls Pitt to stop the noise.

Someone should set them straight.

26. Freeper logic strikes again
I like the accusation that Will took his website offline so nobody could check up on what he'd been writing. He's a prolific poster on several websites and has had a book published, but he doesn't want anyone to know what he's written.

Makes perfect sense!

31. Was it the Freeper or Will who poisoned the well?
Disclaimer: I'm an unabashed liberal.

Did the Freeper quote Will Pitt inaccurately? Did he make up lies or what? Or did he merely point them to Mr. Pitt's own writings?

Was Mr. Pitt posturing as unbiased? I don't think so, but he certainly didn't mention that he was a lefty, did he?

So, lacking evidence to the contrary, I fail to see that the Freeper did anything wrong or illegal. Although it may have appeared to some here as a low blow, perhaps some on FR might claim it to have been a good shot on the chin.

Did Mr. Pitt really take down his own web site to hide his writings? I doubt it since they are all on the record at http://truthout.com/ and here, among other places. So perhaps I would have an issue with that, unless Mr. Pitt did do that - only he can say, although, again, I doubt it. I'll pass on the mind reading.

In any case, as far as I can tell from the post above, Mr. Pitt was hoisted by his own petard.

That's something every writer worth his salt knows will happen to him. Mr. Pitt knows what he says is on the record. And as a writer he must stand by, or refute, his own record.

Which is really why I took him to task on his "I can't forgive Clinton for the BJ" thread - I saw that as posturing to try to balance his record which is way biased to the left. That kind of tactic - bash the left to garner some "balance points" is exactly what media whores do, to be blunt.

However, we would do no less if the guy who runs Free Republic were trying to gain access to a media outlet and was not revealing his own partisanship.

Pot, kettle, black. You know the story.

33. We've had our differences, but on this YOU ARE CORRECT!
Given the Freeper stuff (and I've not been over to their boards unless something has been posted here and then I've not stayed) it seems they "poisened the well" for you at 5:28 this p.m.

So, I'm thinking if CNN listens to Free Republic before they talk to you then the Media is worse "in the tank" than even I thought.

You were correct in your effort, imho. And you know that I wouldn't say this if I didn't think so.

This whole back and forth with Brown has been an "eyeopener" for many of us here on DU who still had a glimmer of hope that mainstream media cared what the hell we thought.

All those e-mails I've sent that don't even get an e-mail form "thank you for your comments we are forwarding........blah, blah, blah..." all go into a dumpster!! In the "Old DAYS" they USED TO CARE ABOUT VIEWERS! GONE, DEAD!

NOW WE KNOW.. Sorry you had to be the "messenger." Doesn't mean I and others will give up mailing our comments on their "whoring" but it does help us understand that we shouldn't expect anything, but we have to do it.

Look forward to hearing from you on Pacifica, Will, when I get back from the peace march in Durham, NC, that I'm going to! We will all be together in SPIRIT TOMORROW!!!! PEACE!

DFU SONG: Pretty Women (naked women) 1-15-03
DFU SONG PARODIES | 1-2003 | Lyrics, Doug from Upland

Posted on 01/15/2003 9:39 AM PST by doug from upland

MIDI - PRETTY WOMAN

Naked women…as you're protesting
Naked women…I gotta say one thing
Naked women…Upland is a friendly town
To pull your tops and pants down

Naked women…winter's mild here
Naked women…and the sky is clear
Naked women…here on Euclid Avenue
It is such a pretty view

Naked women…we'll await
You'll find your trip will be great
We'll be gracious and we all will wave

We'll have coffee if you like
Come ride naked on my bike
Upland men have said they will behave…we'll behave

How exciting…we'll have such fun
Tell us what you need…and it is done

Naked women…did you drive or fly
Naked women…no need to be shy
Naked women…hello, honeys, here I am
Right here
I just charged up my Sony Cam
Oh, dear
Did someone play a joke on me?
I don't think I like what I see

I'm feeling ill

Lady, don't pull your pants down
Yuk…I'm getting out of town

Go back… naked women

Looking at the last sweeps, nobodies watchin'
Although I like James and Paul, the show has turned into a shouting match, with 3 people screamin' at the same time.
I find it hard to believe anybody can enjoy a show where 3 or 4 people talk at the same time ....and nobody really gets their point across.
