21. Hate to put this is such vulgar terms, but...
How many multi-billionaires can we really trust as "Democrats"? Once you're in that league - greed tends to consume, don't you think? And when it does...well, I don't need to spell out which party you'll feel most at home in, do I? Buffet is a notorious tightwad. There's a Salon article that refers to an episode where in order to lend his daughter $20 at the airport, he made her write him a check! This obscene level of wealth seems to corrupt most mens' souls!

17. Yeah, but they flew from New York and other places.
I'll try to find the earlier links on these stories. It was all pointed out last year but, of course, those who first printed the story were accused of being "conspiratists." The original story was in conjunction with the story about and Israeli tech organization receiving a warning about 9/11 several hours before it happened.

4. one article mentions it
LAST EDITED ON Jan-08-03 AT 02:07 PM (ET)

There hasn't been a lot of info on this, but one article hints at it.

San Francisco Business Times
February 1, 2002
http://sanfrancisco.bizjournals.com/sanfrancisco/stories/2002/02/04/story3.html

Speaking of Anne Tatlock, Chairman and CEO of Fiduciary Trust Co. International:

"On the morning of Sept. 11, Tatlock herself had just arrived with a small group of business leaders at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha for a charity event hosted by Warren Buffett. She then heard the news of the first plane hitting the World Trade Center's north tower. ...

"Moments later, back in Omaha, a television picture flashed on a large screen, and Tatlock witnessed the second plane plowing into the south tower.

""There on the screen, I saw the second plane crash into my office," Tatlock recalled."

*******

I just found a second article:

http://www.forbes.com/forbes/2001/1015/070.html
Shattered, Not Broken
James M. Clash and Rob Wherry, Forbes Magazine, 10.15.01

Anne Tatlock found out about the collision of a plane with the North Tower while en route to the U.S. Strategic Command headquarters in Omaha. The 62-year-old chief executive of Fiduciary Trust Co. International was one of a small group of business leaders at a charity event hosted by Warren Buffett. Military officers boarded the bus she was on, and escorted her to an officer's lounge and a television, just in time to see the second plane hit the South Tower between the 87th and 93rd floors--right where 650 of her employees worked.

*****

MORE on Tatlock:

Thursday, February 21, 2002

The Mayo Foundation Board of Trustees named Anne M. Tatlock, chair and CEO of Fiduciary Trust Company International, to four-year term on the Board of Trustees.

Anne Tatlock is chair and chief executive officer of Fiduciary Trust Company International located at Rockefeller Center in New York. She is also vice chairman and a member of the Board of Directors of Franklin Resources, Inc. Tatlock serves on a number of boards including Fortune Brands, Inc., Merck & Co., Inc., as well as several not-for-profit organizations.

*****

January 25, 2001

Anne M. Tatlock has been elected a trustee of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Tatlock graduated from Vassar College in 1961 and earned a master's degree in economics from New York University in 1968. Prior to joining Fiduciary, she was with Smith Barney & Company for 22 years, where she was first vice president and manager of the capital management group.

She is chairman of the Cultural Institutions Retirement System, a trustee and chairman of the investment committee of Vassar College, a trustee of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, a trustee and chairman of the finance committee of the Teagle Foundation and president of the American Ballet Theatre Foundation. She also serves on the boards of three Fortune 500 companies-American General Corp., Fortune Brands, Inc. and Merck & Co., Inc.

When the chimp was in Minnesota stumping for his lap dog Norm Coleman, he speechified about how his mom (Babs) was on the board of directors for Mayo. Is the board of directors that same thing as the Mayo Foundation Board of trustees?? I don't know.

5. Nobody ever seems to have found out much about it
The facts on record are that (1) a bunch of CEO's with offices in the World Trade Center were conveniently attending what was said to be a charity event with Buffet at 8 am (Central Time) on the morning of September 11 and (2) * himself showed up there later as he scampered around the county.

Do a search, and you'll find plenty of people saying, "Boy, that's strange." But no one actually knows anything.

7. Buffett said it's "inevitable" per a quote I found
LAST EDITED ON Jan-08-03 AT 02:26 PM (ET)

In March of 2002 financial speculator Warren Buffett predicted that the use of nuclear weapons by terrorists was '"inevitable."'

President George W. Bush went to Offutt AFB later in the 9/11/01 day. President GWB left Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, Louisiana at 1:48 Central Daylight Time, arriving at Offutt AFB in the next hour.

Fiduciary Trust is yet another investment-banking firm. Like J.P. Morgan and Lazard Freres before it, Fiduciary Trust wants to serve big money or an exclusive elite. It's "for institutions and wealthy clients." Five months prior to 9/11/01, Fiduciary Trust was bought by Franklin Resources of San Mateo, California for $825 million.

Fiduciary Trust employed 645 people on five floors on or above the 90th in the WTC's South Tower. 87 of those employees were killed due to the "'9/11'" destruction.

Fiduciary Trust's Chairman and CEO, Anne Tatlock, 62, was gone from her headquarters on "'9/11.'"

The February 1, 2002 San Francisco Business Times reported: "On the morning of Sept. 11, Tatlock herself had just arrived with a small group of business leaders at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha for a charity event hosted by Warren Buffett. She then heard the news of the first plane hitting the World Trade Center's north tower."

both Google, and Yahoo turned up very few links regarding this subject. Are they being scrubbed before our eyes???

on edit: Why can't we find out more info on Buffett's charity event. Maybe a few evil DU'ers would like to donate to this "worthy" cause. Time to call Berkshire Hathaway investor relations. Anyone have their number??? I'm not having much luck. http://www.berkshirehathaway.com/

34. We discussed this in "real time" way back then

and yes.. there were many articles available.. Our search feature is too hard to navigate, but I actually found an offut airforce base chatroom where they were discussing this.. I also was able to access an airforce newsletter telling who was going to be there..

I think those are now "gone".. someday when I have a few hours, I migh go back and try to find them..

44. Thanks for this
Nice little bit of background work. I haven't followed this aspect of 9/11 much, but I do remember something about that flight of executives from the WTC to Offut crossing paths with flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania. I even remember vaguely something about they circled around that area at the time of the crash.

Don't know what that means, if anything.

10. Offut was the former home of Strategic Air Command
So there are bunkers and defenses still there for times of emergency. It's a very logical place to hide a cowardly president who was probably still drunk, both because of the defenses, and because it is somewhat isolated, which makes it easier to spot anything odd approaching.

Buffet lives in Omaha. The second Tuesday of the month is a very common day to hold meetings, for some reason. Right now I am trying to find a place to hold a meeting on the second Tuesday of this month, and can't, because everyone else is holding their meetings then. We had a meeting the evening of 9-11, as well.

And, of course, it isn't odd that a charity event sponsored by Buffet would include people whose offices were in the WTC. You go where the money is, that's just a given. I imagine that most places Bush could have landed would have had a connection somehow with some aspect of 9-11. How many people here at least knew someone who knew someone that might have been in the WTC that day?

Oh yeah, and last I heard, Buffet detested Bush. If that's wrong, let me know.

Just my opinions from the digging I did on the story.

37. Well
It made sense to take Bush to the SAC at Offutt considering that there is no close airstrip near NORAD. So it is the most logical place to take the president in times of national security crisis.

And I am guessing that once the president was in route they locked down Offutt tighter than a drum and wouldnt let nayone in or out. Si if Buffet and the CEO guys were laready there they probably were held there by the military until the all clear was sounded later that evening....

probably making a bit more out of this than there is to make....but who knows

35. Yes, and what's even weirder
I heard the announcement when they officially confirmed this, months ago. What's really odd, to my thinking, is the fact that it was all secret to begin with. They let a whole year go by in which there are all these credible stories from eyewitnesses that they saw a second plane, but it was denied up and down. Then the truth comes out that there was one, that it was owned by Buffet, that it was authorized to track the highjacked plane, etc. And inconsistencies/oddities remain: the story is that it happened to be in the area, so they asked the pilot to "observe." Why? And why was it still in the air after all other traffic had been grounded?

But the real question is, WHY couldn't this information be released originally? It's not like there are any national security issues here are there? If they aren't covering up something, why do they work so hard at looking guilty?

40. Why, why, why...
Why won't the mainstream press ask ONE of these fucking questions??? Of course I know WHY, but why, oh why won't the American people get off their sorry behinds and DEMAND that their press ask these questions???

I also remember all of those early denials of the existence of a small plane - despite all of the eye witness accounts of it!!! Will we ever get the truth about this fucking thing?

27. More common than you think
They have pretty good facilities for meetings and diners. When I lived in Omaha back in the 80s we had one of our company Christmas parties in a meeting hall at Offut Air Force Base.

End of conspiracy theory!!!!

Oh, by the way my employer at the time was the predecessor of Enron. Damn, can't shake that conspiracy theory.

31. Excuse me, Tex...
But how does the fact that YOU were at a Christmas party at this base in the 80's automatically refute the possibility of Warren Buffet being somehow involved with the Bush Crime Family Evil Empire LIHOP scheme??? Were YOU present at the meeting? Do YOU know who was? Was YOUR company involved with helping the USAF in the development of Global Hawk technology? Did YOUR company provide the Junta with a jet to follow the flight of one of the hijacked planes?? If your answer to the last 4 questions is "yes" - it's not surprising that you're evidently from Texas!!

36. I was simply responding to your post #15
It is a fact that private functions are held at Offut and some other military bases. I wasn't trying to refute anything regarding Buffet and Bush.

Buffet is a pretty open guy. I think there is a good chance he would release a list of all invitees to his meeting. Of course if he is part of the BFEE the list would be a lie.

41. Oh what a tangled web
Another thing I think is odd is that Enron did get its start in Omaha back in the 1980s. Kenny boy was there. At that time, Lay's Enron was merging with the Omaha company.

During the merger, Kenny Boy Lay promised not to move the company headquarters out of Omaha when his company (Enron) merged with the Omaha company.

Kenny Boy lied. The company did move their head quarters out of Omaha and into Houston, land of the Texas oil men.

That move angered many in the Omaha business community.

Then, as we all know, Enron exploded about 20 years later. Again, more angry retirees living in the Omaha-area as they watched their retirement $$ dwindle away.

Anyway, after the meltdown, physical aspects of the company (like some pipeline that stretches through the mid-west) were sold off.

Last fall (?) I read that a Warren Buffett company, based out of Des Moines, Iowa, purchased the old Enron pipeline. If I can find the name of that company, I'll report back.

It is also interesting to note that the University of Nebraska (is that in Omaha?) has an Afghani studies center, where until 1998 UNOCAL was sponsoring some 38 or so foreign students in pipeline construction.

I could be a little off on my stats/info here, but that is the gist of what I remember reading.

42. Right you are, Suegeo!
Great find! Here it is. http://www.frankkryder.com/assetmap.htm

So Warren Buffet, who's plane tracked one of the 9-11 hijacked planes, has Enron's pipeline. Again, the mainstream press is just working it's ass off exposing this shit, isn't it?

47. Buffet is seen as the anti-Lay by most remaining Enron employees
Enron's largest pipeline, Northern Natural Gas (NNG) remained in Omaha when the corporate HQ was moved to Houston by Lay. Most NNG employees are very pleased that the company is now owned by Omaha people again.

MidAmerican (i.e., Buffet's) purchase of NNG is no big secret. It was reported extensively in both the national and local (Houston & Omaha) press. The pipeline was sold to the highest bidder (Well there were higher bids but with strings attached).

45. MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co.,
The Buffet company that purchased the Enron pipeline from Dyengy is named MidAmerican Energy Holdings.
(Or at least MidAm assumed some debt for the purchase--the article below says 950 million which is confusing, because the article says the price Buffet paid was 928 million.)

I am not that well-versed in high finance, so don't ask me to explain this...

Here are a few snips from the report I found.
To find the entire article, I suggest you do a google search.

Business - Reuters

Buffett Builds Pipeline Empire
Mon Jul 29, 7:41 PM ET
By C. Bryson Hull

HOUSTON (Reuters) - Cash-strapped energy trader Dynegy Inc. on Monday sold the Northern Natural Gas pipeline -- its spoils from a failed takeover bid for bankrupt rival Enron -- to a firm controlled by billionaire Warren Buffett ( news - web sites) for $928 million.

The deal came after Dynegy’s largest shareholder, ChevronTexaco Inc. , told the Houston-based energy merchant that it needed to sell the pipeline or else lose its support and face bankruptcy, people familiar with the situation said.

Though Dynegy sold the pipeline for nearly $600 million less than it paid, the sale will pump cash in and strip almost $1 billion in debt off its troubled balance sheet. News of the deal pushed Dynegy shares out of penny-stock territory.

ChevronTexaco is expected to take a large charge related to its Dynegy investments when it releases results on Tuesday, the sources said. Its 26.5 percent stake in the Houston firm is now worth about $130 million, just one-tenth what it paid in 1996.

MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co., a Des Moines, Iowa-based energy firm controlled by Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc. , will also assume $950 million in debt for the pipeline.

Houston-based Dynegy paid $1.5 billion -- money that came from ChevronTexaco -- in January for the 16,600-mile pipeline, which stretches from Texas’ oil- and gas-rich Permian Basin to the Great Lakes. With the sale, Dynegy abandoned plans for a partial sale or joint venture.

BARGAIN PRICE

Buffett, whose key investment principle calls for buying undervalued assets, stuck true to form with the purchase, which he made at a sharp discount from a desperate seller. Dynegy said it would use the cash to improve its finances.

It is the second time this year that MidAmerican has snapped up a pipeline from a troubled energy merchant. In March, MidAmericas snared the Kern River Gas Transmission Co. from the troubled Williams Cos. for $450 million.

END SNIP
.

46. $928 million cash plus $950 million assumed debt
For a total price of about $1.90 billion. Six months earlier Dynegy thought the pipeline was worth $2.5 billion.

Buffet is known as a bottom fisher. I talked to President of MidAmerican about a month ago who told me that Buffet might spent up to $10 billion in buying energy assets -- mainly pipelines, but also power plants.

25. Great! Just one more thing to throw me over the edge with!
I bet this has freaked out ShakeyDave too...

"This crippling of individuals I consider the worst evil of capitalism. Our whole educational system suffers from this evil. An exaggerated competitive attitude is inculcated into the student, who is trained to worship acquisitive success as a preparation for his future career.

I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals."

29. This tangled web never ends, does it??
This is one giant fraternity of scowndrels we find ourselves pitted against, isn't it? A researcher (a Ewing) would have to commit themselves to this thing exclusively for years, perhaps - to sort the whole ugly mess out!! At least we can uncover a few gems for exposure! What a fucking joke that Senate investigation was!!!

30. Here's an invitation.
SWEET CHARITY

WARREN BUFFET'S CHARITY CLASSIC Sept. 11, an event that draws celebrities, professional athletes and CEOs to Omaha, Nebraska will be the last. It has raised nearly $9 million for four charities in its nine-year run while bringing to the event such notables as composer Marvin Hamlisch, investing guru Peter Lynch of Fidelity Management, then-Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Arthur Levitt and actor Chuck Norris. Another $1 million is expected to be raised at the last of the one-day Classics, scheduled for Sept. 11. The money will be divided equally among: the Boys and Girls Clubs of Omaha, Omaha Children's Museum, Girls Inc. and the Omaha Theater Company for Young People. Susie Buffett, daughter of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. Chairman Warren Buffett,70, made the announcement. Roberta Wilhelm, executive director of the Omaha Theater Company for Young People, said her organization used part of the proceeds to renovate the Rose Blumkin Performing Arts Center and put some into an endowment to care for the facility. Renovation work, started in 1993, was finished in 1995.

32. Well, if Buffet knew - he certainly knew well in advance, didn't he?
I'll admit I'm hard pressed to put a sinister spin on such an innocuous notice, but - at the very least, it serves to uncover several other suspicious issues. Thanks.

small minor point: Offutt AFB is NOT the command center for directing the U.S. military. While Offutt is the home of STRATCOM, the NMCC (National Military Command Center), is at the Pentagon.
