"George Harrison back in hospital--doesn't look good."

http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/abc/20011108/ts/harrison011108_1.html

Former Beatle George Harrison is reportedly undergoing radical cancer treatment at a New York hospital.

George Harrison is undergoing cancer treatment in a Staten Island, N.Y., hospital.

Harrison is being treated at Staten Island University Hospital by Dr. Gil Lederman, considered the leading specialist in a technique known as sterotactic radiosurgery.

Very high doses of radiation find and eliminate tumors while leaving surrounding healthy tissue intact. This technique is considered a last-ditch effort, one recommended only to patients in the end stages of terminal cancer.

7. "Yeah, he obviously wanted his privacy"
in his remaining days, as he always has. A true gentleman in all senses of the word. Another of the great counterculture heroes soon lost, I guess. My favorite Beatle always, too. Although I've sure been missing Lennon's voice since 9/11.

2. "The Quiet Beatle"
George Harrison may to some be in the shadow of John Lennon and Paul McCartney, but I think he held his own, even if it were only 1-2 songs per album. His Beatles compositions stand out as classics in their own right, and his "All Things Must Pass" is a classic no matter his Beatle background.

Let's hope for the best with his treatment.

9. "George Harrison: Wishing Him Well & Here's Some Great Lyrics!"
George's song "Piggies" is as current today as it was 'all those years ago'.

Piggies / George Harrison with The Beatles

Lead Vocal: George Harrison

Have you seen the little piggies
Crawling in the dirt
And for all the little piggies
Life is getting worse
Always having dirt to play around in.

Have you seen the bigger piggies
In their starched white shirts
You will find the bigger piggies
Stirring up the dirt
Always have clean shirts to play around in.

In their styes with all their backing
They don't care what goes on around
In their eyes there's something lacking
What they need's a damn good whacking.

Everywhere there's lots of piggies
Living piggy lives
You can see them out for dinner
With their piggy wives
Clutching forks and knives to eat their bacon.

Please remember that George did the whole Concert for Bangladesh long before any rocker had ever thought of a charity benefit concert.

17. "Amazing! Kind of Karl Marx Meets George Orwell's Animal Farm"
Hi Sierra_moon, they are indeed amazing lyrics. Thanks for your note. I've been monitoring George's health for a long time via some of the Beatle sites and it hasn't been too good.

Did you know that George and his beautiful wife have been living in Herman Hesse's home in Switzerland?

I always thought that this little song, "Piggies" on the White Album was simpy brilliant.

On another note, I can not believe that George Harrison, John Lennon and Ringo Starr never were knighted as were Paul McCartney and George Martin. It is simply disgraceful.

In the 2000 campaign, Al Gore was asked who/what was his favorite band? Al answered without hesitation and with a big grin, "The Beatles." Then asked, which was his favorite album, again Al Gore (our real President) answered without hesitation and smiling, "Rubber Soul." I don't think GWB could name five Beatle songs--what a materialist, pathetic and shallow geek this man from Crawford is!

Anyway, on a more positive note, here's a big thanks to Not_over_it for starting this thread today for George.

And here's another one from the great George Harrison:

Within You Without You
by George Harrison

We were talking
about the space between us all
and people who hide themselves
behind a wall of illusion
never glimpse the truth
then it's far too late
when they pass away

We were talking
about the love we all could share
When we find it
to try our best to hold it there
with our love, with our love
we could save the world
if they only knew

Try to realize it's all within yourself
no one else can make you change
And to see you're really only very small
and life flows on within you and without you

We were talking
about the love that's gone so cold
and the people who gain the world
and lose their soul
They don't know, they can't see
Are you one of them

When you've seen beyond yourself
then you may find
peace of mind is waiting there
And the time will come
when you see we're all one
and life flows on within you and without you

13. "love to george "
i sincerely believe that the beatles changed the world. they came along at the right time, with the right message. they gave a focus to a whole generation, one that was searching, and questioning. that generation brought a halt to the vietnam war. their music was all about peace, and love. the same thing that we are still searching for.

in my mind, and i think to a lot of others, they were the greatest group of all time, with an influence and effect that went far beyond mere music.

i hope the best for him. he has been through a lot in recent years. hopefully he feels that he has had a good life.

i know that my life has certainly been better, thanks to him, and them.

My best wishes for George; I sure don't want to write him off yet. I too thought he was sicker than we were hearing in the press. But his songs will live on. (While My Guitar Gently Weeps is one of my all-time favorites) George is a good and kind soul. Maybe we should adopt Here Comes The Sun as a theme song, not just for George, but for our political agenda in 2002 and 2004. It's been along cold lonely winter ... it seems like years ...

26. ""Here Comes The Sun" - The Lyrics"
HERE COMES THE SUN
by George Harrison with The Beatles

Here comes the sun, do do do do
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right

Little darling
It's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling
It feels like years since it's been here

Here comes the sun, do do do do
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right

Little darling
The smiles returning to the faces
Little darling
I seems like years since it's been here

Here comes the sun, do do do do
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes

Little darling
I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling
It seems like years since it's been clear

Here comes the sun, do do do do
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right
Here comes the sun, do do do do
Here comes the sun
It's all right
It's all right

28. "It's All Too Much ---The Lyrics"
DCofVA, It is too much. Hoping for George here.

It's All Too Much

by George Harrison with The Beatles

It's all too much
It's all too much
When I look into your eyes
You love is there for me
And the more I go inside
the more there is to see

It's all too much for me to take
the love that's shining all around you
Everywhere it's what you make for us to take
it's all too much

Floating down the stream of time
form life to life with me
Makes no difference where you are
or where you'd like to be

It's all too much for me to take
the love that's shining all around you
All the world is birthday cake
so take a piece but not too much

Sell me on a silver sun
where I know that I'm free
Show me that I'm everywhere
and get me home for tea

It's all too much for me to see
the love that's shining all around you
The more I learn, the less I know
and what I do it's all too much

It's all too much for me to take
the love that's shining all around you
Everywhere it's what you make for us to take
it's all too much

It's all too much
It's all too much

You're too much.
