Skinner ADMIN (5848 posts) Nov-06-02, 07:04 PM (ET) Due to high traffic, we will be limiting access to the message board. LAST EDITED ON Nov-06-02 AT 09:19 PM (ET) Due to the unexpectedly high traffic to our website since election day, we are going to limit access to our message board. Only individuals who have donated to Democratic Underground during the last year will be given access. This is a temporary change which will only be in effect until our traffic returns to its pre-election levels. We regret having to implement this change, but we felt it was the fairest way to keep the website open during this difficult time. We are currently planning a significant and costly server upgrade so we will not face this problem again in the future. Please be aware that if you donate, we cannot give you access to the forums until we make it into the office tomorrow morning. Sorry for the inconvenience. Skinner DU Admin   Top

Update on access restrictions Well, we tried to bring DU back to a free service where all could participate, but our server got so overloaded, within no time, that the site was completely 100% unusable to everyone, once again. For the time being, I've put the forums back to "Donors only" status. This has brought the load on the server back down to a state where we can at least manuever around a little bit. Restrictions may be eased later tonight after I experiment a little bit, but not eased as much as earlier this evening. We hate having to do this but we feel strongly that it's better that DU be available to some people than not available at all. Elad DU Admin   Top
