Dammit to hell!! Where is the investigation in Wellstone's crash,
and where is the anthrax investigation, and where is the 9/11 investigation? Where is our government? Where are people in our government who care? Where is the investigation into voter fraud? Why is no one asking questions about exit polling and demanding a congressional investigation in THAT?

For two years, it has been like this. We are in Babylonian exile waiting for some Messiah to lead us back into the Promised Land.

Folks, what do we do? Really?

The only thing I know to do is support every Democrat and good Republican and Independent out there. And yes, there are good Republicans out there with whom we might have some disagreements, but if they are opposed to Bush, then we much support them. We have to help get good people elected in our government. Our Democracy depends upon it.

And if the Democrats and others who want to be the loyal opposition, we are going to have begin a legitimate populist movement, a grass roots movement. That is where we are.

Now, for you American historians out there, are there any antecedents for a grass roots populist movement which was successful in changing America?

1. Interesting...
Being against Bush 2.0 makes a Republican "good". How quaint!

2. Got some Dems at 2.0 also
We can't wait for a messiah, we've got to take what we can, when we can. There are Repubs that stand for honor and integrity and for doing what's right.

We've got to pick our allies as we can get them, guys like Hagel (R) Nebr. Men with the courage to do what's right for the good of the country. Hagel has taken on Bush several times, also taken on Limbaugh. If he got enough encouragement from the left, he might stir the pot enough to investigate.

5. McCain...
McCain is neither a crypto-Democrat or a liberal. He's just a maniac.

4. I'm one of his constituents, I USED to feel that way
Until I found out he was a big wig in the local company that made these new whizbang electronic voting machines that they are going to use to "trick" us into thinking our vote still counts.

There are links about voting machine fraud all over DU, check one of those out, you'll find a whole new side to Sen Hagel you didn't know about.

7. Populist party
LAST EDITED ON Nov-23-02 AT 11:06 AM (ET)

LaFollette. Wisconsin. Regionally effective and spreading. Undercut and pre-empted by WJ "Cross of Gold" Bryan who took the west and midwest and floundered in the corporate controlled northeast. Four time loser, naive or insincere coalitions. Lesson to be learned: populism has to have its base in a strong coalition AND beat the GOP machine which is more fiercesomely fraudulent in media and vote fraud than back then- all seemingly unopposed. it would be nice if Dem staffers were to hit the books. Greens seem weak compared to the Populists, Labor's Working Families a tentative symbolic show. Need to knock some heads together definitely.

Most of the fraud caught in 2002 was the incompetent stuff literally leaking out at the sides, more often betrayed by disgruntled Republicans themselves. Barely a peep about a few issues by Dems with all their lawyers staring with impotent intimidation at the doors of the polling places. No, the news covered and crusading speeches against fraud came from the same place as the despairing electronic ballot machines. The GOP hit squads. Two years and the single gain from protecting the vote could have saved a lot of Dem bacon. Now we are hoping for media coverage and grass roots visions? The DNC ain't gonna do it. And we shouldn't simply count on being able to hand out moxie, money and votes to people who can't do the job. All weaknesses will be exploited and countered with a sea of special interest money and fear...and fraud...and whatever it takes to continue tyranny over
the silenced majority.

Demand a truth commission for some of the garbage everyone is so afraid of pursuing. In South Africa they STILL had a couple dozen white terorrists trying to ingite violence. They caught them because they knew. The people didn't have to imagine in shadows or pretend the big bad guys would go away after blowing a single election.

On edit: LaFollette was a REPUBLICAN who started the primary system, taxed corporations and regulated railroads in Wisconsin.
The last of the truly dove and progressive GOP? Most third parties flounder without a strong leader, but that leader almost always limits them in crippling fashion. They hit the wall once they achieve some power to tip the balance. I suppose the Dem leaders' excuse back then was placating their solid Southern base. Now it is searching(like Hamlet) for a future, amorphous, non-progressive base. Hence the feeble desire for McCain, who is no LaFollette.

13. There used to be progressive Republicans in Oregon
They were heavily into environmentalism, and they pioneered our land use laws and expanded the state park system, the very things that their descendants are trying to dismantle three decades later.

The perfect is the enemy of the good.

Say it loud: I'm liberal and proud!

offending the moderates?

8. I'd bet money the “investigation” returns
LAST EDITED ON Nov-23-02 AT 11:15 AM (ET)

a finding of pilot error!

The Most Honorable Senator Wellstone’s plan crash is being investigated as an accident and the conclusion will most likely strongly support that. Yes, I also have read about the missing black box that was required to be on that type of plane.

We all know want-a-be dictators assassinate their rivals, sometimes just to make a statement to lesser rivals and we all remember that W proclaimed this would be easier if it were a dictatorship as long as he is the dictator. But still the democrats treat W’s bunch with uttermost respect.

Bringing down aircraft in a war is standard procedure and we all remember Trent Lott’s declaration of war on democrats, but still ………..Nothing changes!

I suspected the individual’s rights in America were secondary to the corporations “rights” to generate quick profit, and the events following Dec 99 has proven this clearly to me.
The condition my 94 F150 was in after it left the local Ford dealership could have only been caused by deliberate acts of sabotage. I have written several letters to congress, local state authorities, Ford ect. And I can’t even tell you if it is a crime in this state for Ford service center employees to intentionally loosen bolts or dope a crankcase and melt wiring insulation! The current local republican prosecuting attorney will NOT answer in writing the questions I submitted. So the answer to your question "where is our government?" appears to be in the side pocket of big $.

Now a new Democratic PA will soon take office and on his first day in office I will resubmit my lengthy letter questioning if automobile sabotage is a crime. My summary to date is that Ford service center employees enjoy some form of diplomatic immunity, and are totally free to destroy main and even kill at their leisure. I am sure someone is grinding their teeth in anger and questioning what has my car problems have to do with anything. Well when you have two tons of rolling SUV coming at you at 60 MPH it will be a little late to ask “is it a crime for Ford employees to intently inject a slug of determental solvent into a Firestone tire knowing that under normal operation the solvent could cause tread separation and a catastrophic collisions?”

It is clear to me Bu$h was raised to power by the god of GOP*

Don’t give up on the GOD of Love and Truth! Call on Him! Rant to HIM (as a friend would) but don’t give up on HIM!

Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

9. What the hell is it with Ford?
LAST EDITED ON Nov-23-02 AT 11:31 AM (ET)

I ahd the same thing happen to me at the local Ford garage!

They called me and told me to bring it in for a FREE tire rotation. I did and literally stood there for 2 HOURS wating for it to be done. When they were all finished, I took it home, and the sterring wheel shook back and forth, felt like I had a tire blown.

I didnt want to take it back there again not knowing what they had done to it already. Went to a Firestone and one of my tires had 15 NAILS in it! have you ever hear of anyone running over nails and getting 15 in ONE tire? They sabotaged my car without a doubt, I will never take my car back to a Ford dealership or buy another Ford product as long as I live

Oh, and my speedometer makes a loud racket and has never worked since that day either. America- Land of Coincidences

11. I don't have any idea
Maybe because I didnt have them do the $600 worth of fluid changes and flushings that they recommended?

All I know is my car ran and rode fine when it went in the bay, when it came out, 1 tire was ruined with 15 nails in it(no exaggeration, I saw the tire at Firestone, looked like I had a porcupine inside the tire) and my speedometer is busted now.

12. Hage/voting machines
He is also a constituent of mine. I have sent him an e-mail requesting info on the voting machines. He has always been very good at replying. We will see.

I cannot email you because I do not have enough posts, but would be happy to have you e-mail me regarding this matter.

And also the FORD thing. I would like to know if we live in the same city. While I don't drive Fords, this is kinda spooky.
