"Newt the ABC "political commentator""
I don't know how many of you caught ABC's "This Week", but Newt Gingrich appeared, not as a politician, but as one of the "political commentators" on the This Week "round table".

I don't know about you guys, but I feel that's bias crossing the line on a major network. Clinton certainly won't be extended an invitation next week to balance it out.

I realize lots of controversial politicos are given spots at the round table, but somehow allowing Newt to have a seat at the round table to me is an unpardonable sin for one of the big 3 news networks. He is one of the single most controversial elected party leaders in recent political history, and the mere mention of his name makes most Democrats' skin crawl. And I think its different for former political staffers and such than for a former Speaker of the House. I for one am complaining loudly to ABC and hope others will join me.

I know its futile, but that bias was just too blatant for one of the "majors". They might as well have made Nixon a political commentator in the 70s after Watergate.

1. "Geeesh..."
political "commentator" that is a hoot. Commentator should imply a certain amount of neutrality, that lying hypocrit couldn't be neutral if his life depended on it. This is really crossing the line, I hope they give Daschel a job as a political "commentator" when he is no longer the Senate MAJORITY leader.

2. "outrageous!"
Are there any other instances of former elected officials serving as political commentators on major networks? I know that many former aids, advisors, etc. do so, but this seems like it crosses a thick, dark line (wasn't there a big outcry when Stephanopolis did it, or was that just from Democrats?).

4. "Like they said...."
Newt's a "common-tater" for Faux News. All that means is he drools predominantly from the right side of his mouth. Notice how he even had the little George Will glasses on? Gimme a break!

5. "NEWT THE "COMMENTATOR""
Newt a political commentator? What's next, a Gingrich book on family values with the forward written by Dan (the family man) Burton?

6. "There are no liberals on ABC's "This Week""
Cokie Roberts wets her pants everytime she mentions Bush. We already know George Will for the slime ball that he is. Sam Donaldson is an absolute bore. George Stephanopoulos sold his soul when he signed the ABC contract. Newt is just one more dipshit added to a collection of dipshits.

Their official bios are notable for what it omits about them:

7. "Newt's Analysis of Condit's adultery was very thought-provoking..."
NOT.

Newt avoided the mention of Condit's alleged affair like he would a wife with cancer....

Except ... for some bizzare reason he mentioned the scandal from the 80s involving two members (Crane and Studds) and teenage pages. Levy wasn't even a congressionial intern, let alone a ward of the congress.

Somehow he missed the more apt analogy... Like Condit, Newtie was criticizing Clinton for his morals whilst banging a federal employee like an old House gavel. Good ol' Callista.. wonder if she's on the Fox payroll too.

8. "We should thank Bill O’Reilly."
We all know Fox News is a shill for the Republican party. But has anyone heard Bill O’Reillys constantly referring to himself in ad’s as part of the “working stiff’s” of America, immediately followed by the “fair and balanced” catch phrase.
Ignore that he is a multi million dollar tv-host, the man has NEVER been a “working stiff” as he likes to refer to himself. His father was a $90,000 a year accountant and grew up upper middle classed.

We should thank him. As this country slowly drifts ever leftward, People like him who are deluded to think they are speaking for “working Americans” will just continue to delude fellow conservatives that they are in touch with voters, until it is too late.

I almost feel sad for them. They don’t know whats coming.

9. "It's not outrageous. I don't think you understand the nature of the show."
This Week is NOT a news show. It's a political analysis show. That means they bring in commentators who are usually quite partisan in their ideology. While I haven't been thrilled with the show's tenor the last several months, I DO remember a little over a year ago when they fired William Kristol because they thought the roundtable makeup was too conservative (they've since begun rotating people through).
