"Remember the Recruit scandal in Japan?"
I got my very first lesson in true political corruption in japan, when the Recruit scandal wiped out the LDP big time So why am i bringing up that scandal you ask? Because it's starting to look and unfold almost the same way--everyday we learn more about some underhanded crime some politican did..and then these same crooks would appear on Japanese television, get grilled like fish, and canned!

This Enron scandal is following right down the very same path

1. "Ah, yes, the so-called "3-point set""
Recruit scandal, the "woman problem" (= PM not paying mistress enough money), and the introduction of the "consumption tax" (national sales tax), all in the same year, 1989. Together, they worked to bring down the Prime Minister, and his LDP lost the upper house elections for the first time in 34 years. Upper house defeat notwithstanding, however, the LDP has held on to power for most of the time since then, with only one of the myriad prime ministers (Murayama) coming from an opposing party.

However, I think Recruit was NOTHING compared to what we have going on with Enron and the "Honesty and Integrity" Party.
