2006 Races for Governor

36 states will elect Governors on November 7, 2006. Republicans hold 22 of these governorships, while Democrats hold 14 seats.

Current Governorships: 28 Republicans - 22 Democrats.
Wins Needed for a Majority: 4

    DID YOU KNOW? Michigan's first female governor, Granholm was also the first in her family to attend college. DeVos, on the other hand, is a former head of Amway (now Alticor), which his dad co-founded. Dick and his wife, former state Republican chair Betsy DeVos, were among the top donors to the Republican Party in 2004. They helped bankroll the 2000 ballot proposal that would have provided for vouchers, which was defeated by a more than 2-1 margin.
