I made an ironing board cover
I put the ironing board (on the bias) on the top of the fabric (worked on the living room floor) and penciled the outline leaving about 5" all around. After cutting it out I stitched a zigzag around the edge only because this fabric tends to ravel. Then I turned under the edge an inch or so to create a pocket. I threaded kitchen twine in the pocket and fitted it onto my ironing board.

I left the 5" all around because I use an old flannel top sheet folded up to cushion the ironing board cover. Covers these days have such thin flannel backing that they just don't cut it.

1. That is the coolest thing!
I love finding ways to use the things we already have here to solve problems, instead of buying something inferior!

:)

2. I'd been going through my fabric stash

Just then my husband was ironing some shirts and mentioned that I could put a new cover on my shopping list. But this fabric was a good weight and I had enough of it to put it use this way.

I took my time by cutting it one day, sewing the zigzag edge the next and then finally creating the pocket on the third day. It made it effortless.
