Duct tape.
Have been relying on it for decades and can't live without it. Ditto WD40.

The rule is: If it moves and shouldn't, use duct tape; if it doesn't move and should, use WD40.

I'm doing my usual spring rearranging and am left with a few places that have duct tape residue. Of course, I went on line to find out how to get it off and discovered Duct Tape 101. How I missed the Duct Tape Guys before, I don't understand.

The cure for duct tape residue?

WD40!

How did I not try that first?!

2. Simplest answers are nearly always the best!
I'll have to try that sometime...outdoors, of course. WD40 has a really strong smell that just won't go away.
