OK GOP Sally Kern: ‘Blacks’ Don’t Work As Hard As White People' & WORSE. Here is her address:
Edited on Thu Apr-28-11 07:47 PM by Snoutport
Rep. Sally Kern, R-Oklahoma City, said minorities earn less than white people because they don’t work as hard and have less initiative.

“We have a high percentage of blacks in prison, and that’s tragic, but are they in prison just because they are black or because they don’t want to study as hard in school? I’ve taught school, and I saw a lot of people of color who didn’t study hard because they said the government would take care of them.”

http://thinkprogress.org/2011/04/28/sally-kern-blacks-dont-work-hard/

Holy cow...sorry if this has been posted but I'd rather double post than have people miss this.

Is the GOP just trying to piss EVERYONE off??! This woman deserves some phone calls and letters and I know just the group to share this with :0)

Her info:

(as listed on her own website)
Home address: 2713 N Sterling Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73127
Home Phone: 405-942-3504

Capitol Address: 2300 N Lincoln Blvd Rm 332 Oklahoma City, OK 73105
Capitol Phone: 405-557-7348

Since she lists her home address, I suggest we send her some letters! I will be writing one tonight.

2. How do people like this ever get elected to any office?
Because their constituents actually AGREE with their racist, sexist, homophobic, outright wacky anti-American views.

This is what we're up against. There is no room for compromise with people like these so why are we always trying to compromise?

7. Oh blacks don't work as hard as whites -
It's a lot of work to crack the whip,
And even quite more to sign the checks
Boss man could be out playing golf
But he has to sit and wait and watch
As the black man sows the oats with wild streaks of
sweat specks
Flowing down across his brow.

Oh blacks don't work as hard as whites.

Blacks don't work as hard as whites
It's a lot of hassle to manage chain gangs
And a lot of work to enforce the laws.
The black man hanging from a noose in back woods lynching
Took a lot of work to haul on down.

And if blacks could work as hard as whites,
Then why was Jesus so blue eyed?

And why did blacks run and hide
When the KKK swept on through the country side?

If blacks could work as hard as whites?

Black women don't work as hard as women white
And women domestics need to be told to surely iron
til the pleats are crisp
Cuz pleats tend to sag in summer's heat.
Can't have the Missus looking a-fright.

And blacks don't work as hard as whites.

It is hard for us white people
to insist that their mortgages cost them more than ours
And harder still to prevent them from
Getting uppity and entering most elite of schools
Harder still to enforce the rules --
And prevent them from having too many powers.

And they sure don't work as hard as whites.
(Repeat refrain) And if blacks could work as hard as whites,
Then why was Jesus so blue eyed?

And why did blacks run and hide
When the KKK swept on through the country side?

If blacks could work as hard as whites?

50. I just wish that none of the history that this verse of
Mine relates had anything to do with the truth.

I remember being seventeen yrs old, and having an eye opening experience.

My folks were about to move to the suburbs where my dad was signing off on a mortgage of eight percent. He was outraged about how high the mortgage rate was. I was talking to the black woman whose family had bought the house next to ours, in what had been a firmly segregated Southside Chicago neighborhood. But the lady in that house next to our apartment building was saying how her life was:

Her mortgage interest rate was a full seventeen percent! No points offered to her that despite her college degree, she had to work as a cook in a local school cafeteria.

Well, of course, why not? "Blacks don't work as hard as whites!" <sarcasm for those who don't know me.>

53. I lived in souther CA when they did a study on liquor stores...
the city controlled the licensing for liquor stores. Beverly Hills had ONE liquor store. The black areas of town had them on every block ( I exaggerate but you get the point...but they had hundreds). Just a way to keep minorities drunk or at least make it easier to become a drunk.

11. She also hates Homosexuals.... get this:
"Studies show that no society that has totally embraced homosexuality has lasted more than, you know, a few decades. So it's the death knell of this country. I honestly think it's the biggest threat our nation has, even more so than terrorism or Islam — which I think is a big threat, okay? Cause what's happening now is they are going after, in schools, two-year olds...And this stuff is deadly, and it's spreading, and it will destroy our young people, it will destroy this nation."

Those are her words.... (wikipedia)

Call her office.

I still haven't been able to look it up, but I'm hoping that she has a district office and an office in the state capital, and she hasn't posted her family's address online.

But even if she was dumb enough to do that, we shouldn't be encouraging people to write or call her home.

47. Public figure. It's a calculated occupational hazard.
I should disclaim here that I cannot get married in my state, nor may I enjoy benefits similar to marriage if I work for an employer that takes state money, because of people just like her.

I heartily approve of the public knowing her home address and home telephone number. In my own town, people like her tried to pass a local ordinance forbidding unmarried persons not of the same family from living together in the same rental unit. Thankfully, that failed (miserably, as this is a college town), but it's the same mindset.

Fuck all these people. Right in the ear.

A few rogue activists protested state Senators at their homes during the marriage equality fight. They were able to play the victim in the press and it just may have lost us the few votes that we needed to reach the finish line.

30. yes
I started a letter writing campaign on here when the guy in NH said special needs people should be sent to siberia and die. he resigned soon after.

I started a letter writing campaign on here when the lady in florida said the 11 year old who got raped by 18 grown men got raped because she dressed like a 21 year old prostitute.

I started a letter writing campaign on here against the guy in Kansas who said shooting immigrants from helicopters "like ferral pigs" is how Kansas should deal with immigration.

I started a letter writing campaign on here against the (Dem) school board member who referred to the bleachers at her school as "ni**er heaven".

I started a letter writing campaign to Rupert Murdoch about Glenn Beck.

I started a letter writing campaign on here against this lady for saying such cruddy things about African Americans, women and gay people.

I've also asked people to write the WY Repub. Lawmaker who stood up for gay rights and say thank you.

I've also asked people to write Senators Snowe and Collins and I personally wrote every Republican who voted to stop Don't Ask Don't Tell.

Politicians weigh letters more than phone calls and emails so, yes, I do mean "write them a letter". literally in the most literate of ways.

33. LOL. Good for you for using DU to organize people.
Edited on Thu Apr-28-11 10:13 PM by JackBeck
I hope your efforts here have as large of an impact as you think they did.

House politicians are not some nebulous group of individuals that work in some vacuum. The real hard work comes when you do the research to determine what form of contact each Congressional representative responds to best. To make a statement that "Politicians weigh letters more than phone calls and emails" is a great beginning. Getting a face to face meeting in their home office (not their actual home) is the best way to have an impact.

Ultimately, politics is local, so you can organize and write, say, Snowe and Collins to your hearts content, but if you aren't someone casting a vote for them, they really don't care.

BUT...if you create local networks online or through persistent activism off-line, and you build those relationships, then you can have a greater impact.

35. oh...I don't have any idea of any impact
I figure only a handful of people might actually write...but, a handful here and a handful there add up. :0) I only know for sure that I wrote one letter. I just hope to inspire a few more.

And my letters to Snowe and Collins were to say thank you for voting against their party. My mama always said you say thank you when someone does something nice for you. Bernie Sanders got one for his filibuster.

I also try to take any news story that I know most rational people would be ashamed of and post those on my facebook. I don't get political so much but just let their own words speak for them. I've also learned that moms of any political leaning really HATE cuts to education and special education so I make sure to share those.

My goal is not to change anyone but a few people who hover in the middle.

36. Also, explore who you might have in common with them.
Figure out what you actually may have in common: sports, gyms, clubs...when can you be in the same social space as them so you can grab their ear.

Do you have friends or acquaintances that may be social friends? Get them to advocate for you when they see them.

But DO NOT contact them at home, even if the info is accessible.

44. As Oklahoma farmers and ranchers suck up government subsidies.
Sure, they work hard. But the fruits of their labors is above and beyond the market value of their work because of Uncle Sam.

Well, I'm sure that all the minorities need is a hard-working white person to encourage them. Perhaps with some sort of device that causes pain but not death. Portable and manually-powered are good characteristics. So is being very flexible for easy storage. And it would be great if it could also make a fear-inducing noise. And be made from some sort of organic material, such as leather.
