I hope all the birther racists are happy now. I'm sad that his daughters must experience this crap.

I feel bad for Sasha and Malia -- that they have to watch their father being subjected to these racist slurs from bigoted blowhards and political opportunists (and, as Rachel called them last night, grifters who sell birther merchandise and want this story to keep its legs). And that President and Mrs. Obama have to explain to those darling girls what's behind all of this racist crap.

1. I doubt the daughters are subjected to much. I don't imagine the Obamas
let their children read or listen to Birther nonsense.

2. Really not much different from
the shit poor Chelsea Clinton had to deal with.

Except in her case, there were idiots out there actually calling her "ugly", etc.

Didn't something similar happen to Amy Carter?

Not that I want to trivialize the possible effects on the Obama children, but really, there's a huge difference between suggestions or undertones of racism and actually having one's face likened, in plain language, to that of a horse. Or worse.

6. i hear what you're saying
but when i was a kid, my dad was everything to me ... so my theory is: Obama finally gives in for dignity's sake, wounded that his daughters are wounded FOR him. kind of circuitous maybe and i'm not trying to be a mind reader, but dad/daughter dynamics can be pretty intense.

3. Wow! Malia's almost as tall as her mother now.
We don't see that many photos of the children, so I'm aways surprised.

I'm sure they're shielded from the bulk of the ugliness that's out there.

4. I'm sure the President and Michelle know just what to say to these girls.
They are great parents. I share your sympathy for them, though.

I do worry about our school children who have to witness this.

5. Being the child of a President is tough
I am sure all the crap is explained to them.

7. Please don't bring the kids into this
However, I believe the Obama's have ingrained great coping skills into them. They are strong.

8. and by posting this you're helping to keep the story alive.
I'm starting to think the left is more obsessed on this issue than the baggers.

9. but
isn't that what has been happening? fox trots it out (ha ha), and we feel we have to keep it alive in order to expose it and dismantle it? like sarah palin. i shouted at the top of my lungs to my local paper the very next day after her "speech" that she shouldn't be near the WH, and I KEPT shouting about it until she "died." this is exactly what is pissing me off ... you have to keep them in the light in order to kill them ... is there a better way? i'm just asking because i'm trying to learn by reading you folks around here so i can do SOMETHING before they shut lights off.

10. It is the job of a parent to shelter and educate. I think these parents
are doing a fine job of it, without our input. :)
