Anyone who thinks pot should remain illegal, but is not advocating for a return...
to alcohol prohibition is a giant, ignorant hypocrite. Why so many here on DU?

1. No one should tell you what you can put in your body or put it in there without your consent...
Very simple to grasp. It just makes sense and feels right saying it. It's innate.

2. you can say the same thing about the anti smoking zealots out there...
as they sip on a nice chianti everynight, killing their liver, perpetuating a society of drunkeness and causing millions upon millions of dollars being spent on healthcare and addiction recovery, never mind the killing of families and the drunk driving.

but they drink it, so no biggie! Better not tell them to do with their bodies, even though millions of Americans are affected adversely by alcohol and all of its side effects.

3. Well, not so much
Anti-smoking complaints are usually about how smokers make OTHERS smoke along with them. IF they did it in private, no one would care a whit.

5. are all alcohol consumers drinking alone?
Do they not cause accidents to innocent people who were not drinking with them?

In essence making others drink along with them?

Also, how about all the families crippled by an alcoholic parent. Beatings, killings, loss of money, loss of job, pure evilness of living with an alcholic.

Many people who are not drinking are affected by someone who is.

8. Well, as long as I don't have to drink their drinks I care not
And if your dad's an alcoholic, or a cigarette smoker, again, sorry, but not my problem. Unless he makes me smoke his smoke or drink his drink, it's none of my business.

4. A glass of wine every night won't cause liver damage
in anyone but those with like... half a liver.

So you're full prohibition right? Everyone who lights up perpetuates a society of chain smoking and everyone who smokes pot perpetuates a society of burnouts who ruin their lives with the stuff yeah? Moderation doesn't exist does it?

6. Maybe, maybe not. But still it is perpetuating a society that keeps it legal for those who want to
do it.

While it is killing others.

Can you not see the similarity?

And no, I don't want to see alcohol banned.

Difference between me and you, there.

10. Let it go
smoking =! drinking.

I can't force my drink in to your gullet. You can force your smoke in to my lungs.

9. There aren't "so many."
It's just that the pot jihadists are much more prolific writers.
