Repubs are running scared on Ryan plan...
Bob Schieffer had a couple of newly-elected Tea Partiers on his show yesterday and they were in a rush to explain the Medicare aspect of the Ryan plan before they were even asked. Maybe they were asked about it while they have been on their 2-week Easter vacation.

As usual, they had their talking points in order. "People need to know that it will not affect anyone over the age of 55", they said. "No, it's not a voucher program", they add. But it is. It's true that ten years is a long time and voters tend to forget what they voted for. Just look at history. That is what the Repubs are counting on.

Unfortunately for them, the next election is not in 10 years. They are beginning to realize that they foolishly over-reached on this issue and their poltiical careers are in jeopardy. Next time someone yells "Jump!", they may want to look before they leap?

1. In 2000 there were 22 million people between the ages of 40 and 44
So the GOP is gonna f*@k over around 22 million people aged 50-54 alone?

4. "People need to know that it will not affect anyone over 55"
This is the same tactic used to break labor unions.

Many employers created a two-tier pay system. New hires received a starting salary drastically lower than union wages and had to work their way up to the top rate over a long period of time. Many never reached top rate under the new system. When current union members complained they were told to keep their mouths shut because the changes didn't affect them. And the vast majority of them did. And that opened the flood gates for lower wages, decreased benefits, and vastly increased "probation" periods for new hires, all of which contributed to the ultimate demise of labor unions.

When unions can't protect their own members they fail.

When nations can't protect their own citizens they fail.

5. Make Ryan the poster child of the GOP
Edited on Mon Apr-25-11 07:37 AM by TheCowsCameHome
Play him up big as the new face of the republican party.

Let these bastards swing in the wind with the two-door scrotum look-alike clown Paul Ryan from Wisconsin as their standard bearer.

Political Suicide 101. Class is now in session, GOP.

7. How close to the Ryan Plan will Obama land?
Too close for comfort. 0 will move much closer to reducing social security, Medicare and Medicaid than any Republican president has dared to.
