Gretchen Carlson: “The word on the street is the Democrats are most fearful of Donald Trump as
Sarah Palin’s political downfall can be summed up in one 36 second clip from today’s Fox and Friends. In the clip, Gretchen Carlson says, “The word on the street is the Democrats are most fearful of Donald Trump as the Republican candidate, right now.”

Fox News’ open campaigning for Trump provides visual confirmation of what Nate Silver reported today as the dimming media spotlight on Sarah Palin, “In contrast to four years ago, however, when the relative amount of media coverage was fairly steady throughout the campaign, there have already been some dramatic shifts this year. Sarah Palin’s potential candidacy, for instance, is only receiving about one-fifth as much attention as it did several months ago.”

According to Silver, Palin’s share of the media coverage went from 51% in November 2010 to 11% by April 2011. Sarah Palin’s coverage has moved to one birther loving, candidacy flirting reality TV star in particular. Donald Trump’s percentage of the media coverage has gone from 1% in November 2010 to 40% by April 2011. In this case, the data confirms the perception that Donald Trump has replaced Sarah Palin as the media’s right wing darling.

2. the word on the street, Gretchen,
is that Donald Trump is one badass of a progressive candidate. He actually wants a supertax on the superwealthy. He said so with his very own mouth to CNN.com. Now tell me again, Gretchen Foxbot, about Trump's chances in the primaries.

23. It is Maple Street, where weapons are simply thoughts, attitudes, & prejudices...
Edited on Sat Apr-23-11 03:10 PM by pacalo
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices, to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own - for the children, and the children yet unborn. And the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.

Except the street the word happens to be on is a dead end street.
Just like the street that Gretchen, Fox News, and air craft carrier head Trump reside on.

My, we are one EXTRA stupid country.

11. This is a plus for us. The more attention that joke candidate gets the better

The message has now become clear. First Palin, then Bachmann and now Trump. The extreme right will follow whoever is the craziest and if you want the extreme right to follow you then you need to be the craziest.

The more entrenched this trend is the better for us all.

30. Democrats aren't afraid of these people. We just want them out of the way so that some progress
can be made. And some peace and quiet would be nice as well.

Well, I am afraid of Sarah Palin, but that's only because she's an actual, for-real Armageddonist who'd push the button if given the chance. Her and her creepy religio friends.

33. After the Giffords shooting, it became official: Palin can't win
She's too gaffe prone, too whiny, and makes herself too easy a target for the media. GOP leaders also realize that there's little to no "undecided" factor with her. About 35% of the population adores her, and the other 65% can't stand her.

OTOH, laugh at Trump all you want. If the primaries were held today, he'd likely be the nominee. He's wealthy, he'll have strong appeal to the same kinds of independent voters that went for Perot in '92, he's media savvy, and he's a brilliant self promoter. The infotainment generation and the media are intrigued by the idea of a Trump WH, and a sizable chunk of Republicans see him as Reaganesque.

37. Democrats, in spite of union backing, support "free trade."
Edited on Sat Apr-23-11 04:18 PM by JDPriestly
Trump doesn't.

I'm telling you that the candidate who promises to end "free trade" and impose taxes on imports and companies that use foreign nationals outside the US as service representatives will get quite a following.

Democrats need to realize that Trump's stupidity on the birther issue could be "trumped" by his mouthing a policy that would at least decrease all the imports and outsourcing of jobs. That is the big issue.

Joblessness in America is caused by the outsourcing and the importing. And any candidate who speaks for the ordinary American people on that issue will be forgiven just about any other folly. Americans are fed up with "free trade."

42. Trump supports whatever is "cool" at the time.
Trump also once supported single-payer health care. The fact that he is an insane mercurial hairpiece doesn't mean he'd make a good President, and the number of contradictions in his past would make Mitt Romney blush.

what I'm fearful of is the sudden onset of amnesia that the "liberally-biased media" will suffer when it comes to the old Republican line about how it's always the "Democrat party" which hitches its star to gimmick/hollywood personalities ...
