Google offered to block FoxNews results for me this morning!
Edited on Mon Apr-18-11 08:55 AM by Zephie
I was doing a search on Google this morning and I noticed something interesting: One of the results was for a Fox News article, and right below it was a link reading "Block all foxnews.com results". I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but that's fantastic. After clicking you get a happy little message that says "We will not show you results from foxnews.com again", after showing the link being blown up.

I wasn't aware of this previously, though I knew you could filter search results. Interestingly none of the other links had this option beneath them.

Edit: Link found by being logged in to google, using general search and not news search.

search: pregnancy advice for dads. The link for fox news was #7. The option to block is right below the excerpt.

(http link to fox news - removed for sake of post) - Cached - Similar - Block all foxnews.com results

I don't want any stories from Fox to appear in my news summary. How do I block that source?

As of now, there's no feature in Google news to block specific news sites. The best thing to do right now is go to Settings > News Settings, then add Fox News in the "Less News From", then save changes.

5. You might need to be logged in to a google account
Edited on Mon Apr-18-11 08:32 AM by Zephie
I'm constantly logged in because I'm a twitter addict and need it to connect with lots of things, so I don't think about that (apologies!) That might make a difference in the result options. I swear I'm not crazy! x_x

7. Not working for me either ,,,, and I am logged in ,,,
It isnt clear if you were already IN 'Google News' when you entered the query, or if you entered the "pregnancy advice for dads" while in simple Google, and then clicked the 'news' tab ...

I do not get a foxnews.com story anywhere for that query

8. OH! It was not a news search, just a general search term search
Edited on Mon Apr-18-11 08:56 AM by Zephie
I was looking for web pages. I'll edit that in to the main post if I still can. Thank you for pointing that out, I feel so silly.

edit: Done, and photo of process added.

9. Doesn't work for me. I'm logged in too
But click on your account on the upper right of the page. For me it says I have to fill in my profile. I think you have to do that step first. I'm too lazy.

10. Google could make a whole lot of money selling a "Block Fox News" app.
I'd pay a little just to never have to deal with fake news when searching.
