Is it time to show up at every Tea Party Event? In huge numbers?
Edited on Sun Apr-17-11 12:55 PM by walldude
The fact is, when 200 people show up for a Tea Party rally it's a MSM top story. When half a million middle class workers show up to protest it's a non event.

Yesterday we got some coverage, but only because the press was there to fawn over The Wasilla Shrilla and her mini army of zombie followers.

You can see the press doing it's best not to admit there were 10 times the number of counter protesters. You have to admit cell phones and the internet are coming in very handy. Imagine if there was no alternate media. The world would think we are a nation of baggers.

Maybe we should be scheduling all our "events" to coincide with Bagger gatherings. It seems to be the only way to get the media to admit that.. well to admit that they are full of shit and that we outnumber the baggers 10 to 1.

2. YES! YES! YES!
That is what happened yesterday in Madison, WI. VERY effective. Palin's screech could not be heard above the booing!

GREAT video of how it REALLY looked. THANK YOU WISCONSIN!

"500 of them, 5000 of us. More great video from yesterday's protest in Wisconsin"

3. I think it's a great idea
When our signs are overwhelming their signs perhaps the news will one day cover the fact that the anti-tea party is way larger than the tea party.

5. Couldn't agree more!
Let's be sure to post the TB gatherings to alert all of us to put on our walkin' shoes and be there in numbers that can't be ignored!

Peace

6. I would suspect the the baggers were probably a little rattled
but that assumes some degree of normal.

8. Fuck Them
Not only will they get rattled, there are a few that will probably start fights. IMHO, that would be great since they claim that "Violence will come from the left".

I think we have to start attending and outnumber them 20 to 1.

With signs that make sense and are spelled correctly. And then point out that liberals back education -- proof is in the signage

9. It's way overdue, imo
If there is enough notice of the teabag event, there should be a chance of getting a good counter protest together.

12. Yes!!!
I have been wondering why it has taken this long. Now,the media is pretending that the TEABAGGERS are the majority and speak for most of us.

Yesterday, the mainstream media portrayed Palin as some great leader and hid the fact that there was a larger majority there booing her bullshit...

20. There are a LOT of ideas for actions........
and this is a good one IMO. Just remember to bring the cameras. VIDEO cameras because if we do challenge them EVENTUALLY somebody on their side will start something and we need videographic evidence that it was THEY who started it.

21. We don't own or control the private MSM
Edited on Mon Apr-18-11 11:03 AM by KurtNYC
they don't have to do anything or cover anything. They are not the scoreboard. Protests existed long before TV and ours aren't made for TV coverage. Are we going to tell people they can't bring obscene signs, chant obscenities, have off-topic signs, etc? Are we going to get corporate or billionaire sponsors, send buses for the media, have a green room and a craft services tent for the media at our events? Because that is the game.

Does anyone here really expect FNC to air live footage from a protest where people are chanting "Fox News lies!" ?

We better not need the MSM because we are never going to get coverage.

edit: typo on 'Fox'

22. well see that's the idea
because corporate media shows up at the teabaggers rallies all the time. it will be hard for them to ignore the thousands more demonstrating for the left. if they gave up and quit covering the teabaggers, that's still a win for the left.

23. If the goal of a demonstration is to get airtime on MSM then it is doomed
Any strategy that involves using the enemy's propaganda machine to get our message out is going to fail by design.

Look at this clip of Palin in WI that ran on CBS -- can you hear the counter-protest? That's the MSM magic -- editting!
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/04/16/politics/main...

We got into the print story and the lead but that's about it. The CBS video is a story about Tea Party rallies nationwide. In WI the cops let us get right next to the TBs but that won't happen in other places. They will use corrals.

We can't make the MSM do ANYTHING. Can't make them stop showing TB rallies, can't make them tell the truth or show the wars or talk about global warming, can't keep Trump from looking stupid, can't get Buchanan, Hannity, Rush off the airwaves, can't get them to cover re-counts or wait until votes are counted before declaring the winner. They own the MSM so that THEY CAN do those things.

28. I feel like the internet is the ultimate democracy tool and
TV is a one-to-many corporate-owned sales system. ...but I like your optimism.

In the 1960s the media covered some anti-war protests because they thought they could make the protesters look bad. The term "hippie" was meant very negatively and dismissively. They portrayed anti-war people much like Gaddafi portrays his opposition -- drug crazed, un-Patriotic, foolish. And those who played to the image the media was interested in creating got airtime -- Abbie Hoffman, etc. Hoffman played them like a fiddle and they are smarter now. But if the MSM thinks they can make us look bad then they will cover our protests IMHO. (CBS calls Palin 'brave' bc of the counter protest for example)

25. We should... absolutely!
If you recall, they disrupted our health care town halls so no one could question their local reps... I think we should disrupt their events very LOUDLY and then when they cry, remind them of the HC discussions and how we are just following their lead!

26. Yes! Wear blue so the idiot media can't lie about the numbers...
Any overhead, helicopter, etc. shot would tell the tale.

How can we organize this?

Next stop: We steal their name right out from under them. Seriously. Some years down the road, obviously. But what better way to eliminate them than to take their name away from them and use it ourselves?

Actually, I'm sure that's one reason the media covers them so heavily: they have a name. We need a name too. Something like "guillotine society". ;)

29. Yes, and I've been saying it for years.
We need to get in there and just surround them. Get between them and the cameras. Show how greatly we outnumber them. They ALWAYS show up to the tea party events, and they do their best to ignore even gigantic protests from the left. So we need to really get active and show them how it's done.

Now if only we could get someone with a little money to bring coffee and donuts like the teabaggers have.
