Turning Ohio prisons over to private operators will pose a security risk
ACLU warns against plan to sell state prisons

Turning more Ohio prisons over to private operators won't save much money, will undermine sentencing reform and will pose a security risk, the American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio said yesterday.

Prisons for Profit, an ACLU report looking at prison privatization, concluded that Gov. John Kasich "is not doing the taxpayers of Ohio any favors" by planning to sell five state prisons.

"Doing so will not only worsen the strain on Ohio's budget, it will also work strongly against the rehabilitation of low-level offenders and jeopardize the safety of ordinary Ohioans," the group concluded.

1. End the drug war
Then you can close down these prisons completely, and probably many more as well.

2. Not to mention, that once the prison operators are...
...convicted of their bribery crimes, they can't jail themselves. Can they?

4. Can you imagine the lobbyists for Prisons for Profit?
Telling state legislators that the courts aren't convicting enough?
