Boy using candle to find dog destroys St. Petersburg home in fire, killing dog

ST. PETERSBURG — A 15-year-old boy who used a candle to look underneath a bed for his dog started a blaze that destroyed the home and killed the dog, authorities said.

Fire officials said the candle caught the bed on fire. The fire spread and destroyed the house, said St. Petersburg Fire Rescue Lt. Joel Granata.

sorry, but it sounds like something I might have done at 15, but I was smoking a lot of pot back then.

I think I had a little guardian angel that got me through my teen years, because I did everything I possibly could to destroy myself. So I usually know one when I see/hear it.

Probably the dumbest thing I ever did was when I was 15 or 16, I had to cross train tracks on my way to school. The trains took FOREVER, and during the winter they would slow down to a crawl, and occasionally stop all together, randomly coming back to life usually after a few minutes. Well, one particular morning this happened, so I decided to just crawl under the train to get to the other side. There wasn't alot of space under there, and it took me a good 10-15 seconds to crawl under. Obviously I got through OK, but jesus christ just thinking about it right now reminds me of what an idiot I was... if that train had started moving I would be dead.

Nobody died in that case (they were able to get out), but the house sustained extensive damage. Open flame, bunch of flammable material such as bed spread, what could possibly happen?
