Many people love to say what THEY would have done; how they would have been the hero.
For instance, in the case of the missing Tennessee nursing student (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42588547 / )
in the comments section of the msnbc news story, posters kept saying how why didn't the woman's brother do something, if it had been them, they'd beat the crap out of the assailant, go after him with a gun, etc.

This response to those comments was spot on (and gave me a good laugh):

"It could be as simple as someone being in a wheelchair. Maybe there's more to the story that the police specifically don't want mentioned and therefor that's the only piece of the brother's statement that they were willing to release.

You guys really are stupid and all of your responses did nothing but prove my point. Ultimately, you don't know sh*t. You read a couple of paragraphs and now you're all experts on abductions and the appropriate response to them,? No. You're not. Get over it. The funny part, which is also the worst part is that it's somewhat likely that a good portion of you would freeze up in a situation like that.
I'm not a sissy, a pansy, an only child or an idiot. I'm realistic, logical and honest. More importantly I strongly feel that assumptions, based on a single news source, is the stuff of pure idiots. Hence me responding to all of you morons."

1. I read a lot of those comments and they were hysterical, especially
the "I would have shot him "ones. (paraphrasing).

Big heroes,keying away,safe and sound,trumpeting their bravado.
