Tea Baggers and Planned Parenthood
I'm puzzled, I've posed a question to some tea baggers concerning PP and fed funds to pay for abortions. We all know they are totally against PP and abortions but when questioned if they support the child with their tax dollars until legal age I get crickets and spinning. What gives?

1. Planned Parenthood
does not take money for abortions...get that part straight first. The fact that they want to cut all forms of help to lower classes, shows they are not interested in supporting the babies that would be born - that's why you get crickets...they don't give a shit about anything but their myopic thinking...stop abortions - that's all and as far as they have thought that out...how to enforce banning of abortions without taking away a woman's right to privacy, not so much on their radar. And the fact that making it illegal will only create a black market and there would still be abortions hasn't gotten in their pea brains either. They just don't know much about reality.

5. This is an easy one. They draw very STARK lines.
You assume that they would care enough about that fetus to see that it not only gets born, but that it lives to the age of 5, 10, 20, has health care, has an education, so on.

Your view (and mine) is continuous, it flows. Events do not happen in a vacuum.

But that is not at all how they think.

In their world, there really is no continuity. Every action is a unique event, separate from all others. And they draw the lines where every they want.

As a result, they have no problem demanding that a woman carry a zygote or fetus to term, where BIRTH ends this unique event. At that point, a NEW event begins. The responsibility that that they feel for protecting the unborn has been met. And so from birth on, that kid is some one else's problem, and they really don't care.

Remember that these folks believe that Mary was a Virgin. Apparently, God can have sex with whoever he wants. Talk about not coveting another man's wife. God gets to break his own commandments.

Their logic on almost all topics is similarly "clipped". If you draw the stark line in the right place, you can defend or ignore anything.

6. They think people should abstain until they are married, and that birth control is sinful. They also

buy into the whole "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" ideology. But what they don't understand is that their stinginess and support of regressive taxation and their opposition to any sort of social program basically takes the "bootstraps" away from the poor and kicks them in the ass for good measure.

You can't talk any sense to those T-bagger fuckheads. Its all cognitive dissonance with them. If it doesn't fit in with their stingy/holier-than-thou/racist ideology then it goes in one ear and out the other. They only accept information as truth if it confirms their biases.

8. Agree ...
Except that the bootstraps thing is bull.

When THEY need assistance, they earned it. If a minority needs assistance, they are freeloaders.

The ideology drives everything.

7. Their concern isn't for "life"
I believe that their motivation is to "punish" women for perceived "immoral" behavior. Sort of a "that's what you get, I guess the party's over now", attitude.

9. Yep, thats it exactly. And they don't WANT any kind of solution that helps people. All they want

for these people is punishment. It probably pleases them that people are starving and such. No matter what problems, privations, or impossible scenarios they face, "those people on welfare" just need to "try harder".
