Compassion.
Dictionary.com defines it as:
"a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering."

World English Dictionary defines it as:
"a feeling of distress and pity for the suffering or misfortune of another, often including the desire to alleviate it"

Merriam Websters defines it as:
"sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it"

I sure hope that the Democratic Members of Congress and of the White House remember to use that word as the rethugs continue to
try to take away Medicare as we know it; throw the disabled out in the streets and starve the poor ~ all while giving tax breaks to the top 1% & the oil companies.

1. Obama and the Democrats have exhibited great compassion...for the GOP
After 2006 and 2008 their party was completely dead. It was tragic

9. Your simple subject line drew me in...

I couldn't agree more, jillian.

I want progressives to own the words compassion, empathy, cooperation, community -- just as right-wing conservatives have sought to destroy those words since the 80's. I think we should embrace them and shout them from the rooftops, even if some may be uncomfortable with the touchy-feely nature of the words.

WE FEEL. THAT'S A GOOD THING, imho.
