WI Capital Times calls for Federal probe, full recount required in high court race
Suppose the Democratic governor of Illinois had proposed radical changes in how the state operates, and suppose anger over those proposed changes inspired a popular uprising that filled the streets of every city, village and town in the state with protests. Then, suppose there was an election that would decide whether allies of the governor controlled the states highest court. Suppose the results of that election showed that an independent candidate who would not be in the governors pocket narrowly won that election.

Then, suppose it was announced by a Democratic election official in Chicago that she had found 14,000 votes in a machine-controlled ward that overwhelmingly favored the candidate aligned with the Democratic governor. And suppose the Democratic official who found the needed ballots for the candidate favored by the Democratic governor had previously been accused of removing election data from official computers and hiding the information on a personal computer, that the officials actions had been censured even by fellow Democrats and that her secretive and erratic activities had been the subject of an official audit demanded by the leadership of the Cook County Board.

Now suppose that the number of additional votes tabulated for the governors candidate was precisely the number needed to prevent the independent candidate from demanding an official recount.

Would even the most naive Illinoisan simply accept at face value that the new count was legitimate or that the governors candidate should suddenly be presumed to have been elected? Not likely...

3. Federal Probe. Exactly.
The integrity of our election system requires that course of action. The suspension of disbelief needed to blindly accept the story given by that Republican clerk defies the rules of fiction let alone fact. While it is premature to be certain that laws have been broken, it is ridiculous to assert that none have been. This is precisely what investigations are for, and is must be independent. The willingness of citizens in a democracy to accdept a loss for their candidate only holds up if their is basic trust in the system that determins who won and who lost.

The literal basis of a democratic system now demands that there be an investigation to determin if there is fire along with all of the lung clogging smoke suddenly blanketing this election.

4. And the timing was perfect.
Any sooner and the right amount of votes to add would not be known. Any later and they would be counting signatures instead of spread sheets and tapes.

12. Besides counting sigantures. SIgnatures have to be checked. There are more tricks
in elections than the obvious ones. (Saying this from experience.not guessing.)

7. Add to this that the clerk was a GOP operative who
advocated for voter id, had "lost" ballots in the 2006 election, was criticized by election officials for the lack of voting security in 2008 and used to work for Prosser, at which time she escaped prosecution by agreeing to testify about illegal political activities in the legislature.

8. Here's the discussion killer ... If the clerk did everything correct and nothing was wrong ...
then why would they fight an investigation into wrongdoing???
