HELP! This *April 6 *Brookfield Newspaper has printed that the votes were already counted on Apr. 6
Edited on Thu Apr-07-11 10:45 PM by Zorra
I don't understand; I must be missing something. Can someone please explain this to me?

How did the editor of the Brookfield Patch know on Wed., April 6, what the vote totals were for Brookfield, when the missing votes were not discovered until Thurs. April 7? These vote totals were obviously published way before there was any controversy.

How come the local Brookfield newspaper printed these lost vote totals the day before they were "found"?

Brookfield Gives Prosser Nearly 11K Votes
By Lisa Sink | Email the author | April 6, 2011
Incumbent State Supreme Court Justice David Prosser gets 10,859 votes from city residents or 76 percent against JoAnne Kloppenburg.

As expected, Brookfield city voters ran up a good turnout in the state Supreme Court race and gave incumbent Justice David Prosser nearly 11,000 votes.

Unofficial, unaudited results showed 76 percent of city residents who voted picked Prosser, with 24 percent voting for challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg.

That translated to a city voting turnout of about 53 percent, the city's second-highest for a spring election since 2001, but nowhere near the 79 percent turnout for the gubernatorial race last November.

3. That was posted yesterday?
So the story could go that the updated totals were given yesterday and posted on the website before releasing the updates to the rest of the media.

Good find, another piece of the puzzle that needs to be explained.

County HAD Brookfield's numbers and discovered the error Wednesday around noon and reported to GAB then. Press conference was today. The error was omission from COUNTY totals reported to media Tues night. The city knew their numbers.

Brookfield had their numbers Tuesday and submitted them to the county. The county omitted from totals given to media. This article is likely sourced from numbers Brookfield had, not parsed out of county total.

Did the other papers in Wisconsin pick up the story then or did it not hit the fan until late today?

13. They didn't know then.
This story is just a local piece saying what turnout and results were. The county clerk knew Wednesday that these #'s weren't in totals, but press didn't.

27. Why does that matter?
This story is just a local piece saying what turnout and results were. County HAD Brookfield's numbers but failed to add them to totals released to press. The city didn't know they were missing from county totals.

The story you reference is merely a "yay, us!" not, hey, the clerk left us out! Right? WTF kinda story is that? Nobody cared at that point how many one small community turned out.

48. The totals for the county need to be retallied.
She may be counting Brookfield twice.

I say that because the reports I saw posted showed that all precincts had been reported in every county in the state of Wisconsin. Brookfield would be a separate precinct considering the number of votes involved. Whe may be counting the votes twice.

Also the numbers of votes have to be compared to the voter sign-in sheets.

No one knew that the numbers were not added into the 'county total' until today.

The people in Brookside CITY knew their vote totals, but the media did not know that the total was not added in at the county level until today

6. Because ....
The votes were counted and Brookfield knew how many there were.
Where the numbers got lost were AFTER they were sent into the main office, the numbers just didn't get added into the grand total for the whole county.

Brookfield (city) also sent their numbers in on Tuesday night to Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus. She's the one that didn't add them to the county total.

Call it election fraud.

The proof is there. Kloppenberg will win due to this indictment and the votes entire city of Brookfield will be thrown out thanks to this Katherine v2.0 - if she _CANNOT_ prove that these votes are legitimate because someone 'forgot' to add the city - BULL FUCKING SHIT.

Corrected..

 - I'm hoping you'll manage to find a way to seat Kloppenberg. I really suspect election shenanigans.

There was info on Ms. Nicklaus that she was previously investigated for similar issues. I think it's time to bring in the heavyweights of verified voter community again - and have them thoroughly audit Waukesha County. I'm sure they managed to lie about their actual counts. Very red county, I'd suspect. Is it easy enough to lie about the actual numbers of the votes?

37. The city of Brookfield transmitted their number to the county on Tuesday night
there will be a record of that.
All transmissions, correspondence, etc. are going to be investigated.
Kloppenburg has requested all the records.

The problem was at the county level, not at the city level.

40. Maybe yes
But not my point in asking the questions, right now there is doubt and I see know reason not to let the doubt fester.

We have a news media, including the supposed liberal giving hours to "Was he born in the US?" The thing to do is to let it play out as much as possible in the press. It might not change the results but the Republicans will be on the defensive for her ineptness. (at a minimum)

I didn't see that in the article, where did that information come from?

On Edit - read the responses to the article that weren't there earlier and found your source, a reporter for the local paper. Also did a search on her and read the latest tweets!

So we have a reporter for a local paper, who emphasizes with the clerk, as the source for when the info was given. Sorry, not nearly good enough to answer all of the questions.

4:56 PM: Waukesha County clerk calls 5:30 p.m. news conference

The Waukesha County Clerk planned a 5:30 p.m. news conference today to discuss its vote totals amid reports that it failed to include the votes for Brookfield in the results it sent The Associated Press on Election Night.

It could represent a more than 7,000-vote swing in an election that whipped back and forth this afternoon as county canvass totals came in.

Brookfield City Clerk Kris Schmidt said she sent her numbers to the county clerk's office Tuesday night that showed David Prosser with 10,859 votes and JoAnne Kloppenburg with 3,456. She said those numbers did not change in the postmortem she did after the election.

"I have no clue whats going on. she said. "No one has officially told me whats going on."

47. Statement from the Brookfield Mayor ....

Statement: Steve Ponto, Mayor of Brookfield: Its ironic that the vote by the City of Brookfield, which Justice Prosser won with 75%, would have been inadvertently left out of the election count by Waukesha County. That is what we have a vote canvas for and the error was caught. It is important to note that the Citys initial count was confirmed exactly by the Citys own canvas. Our numbers were transmitted accurately to the County. The error was when the County transmitted the numbers to the Associated Press. The Citys voting statistics were correctly posted on the City website on election night. (9:05 PM)

33. Here's the run down
1) Folks in Brookfield voted Tuesday.
2) The votes were added up Tuesday evening, and the city sent the totals to Kathy Nickolaus the County Clerk Tuesday night.
3) The Brookfield newspaper got the vote totals 'from' Brookfield and wrote an article posted it Wednesday sometime.
4) At the County level Kathy realized around noon that she didn't have Brookfield in her total for that county when she looked at a print out and it said 'all zeros' for the city of Brookfield.
5) Thursday (TODAY) during the canvassing Kathy Nickolaus held a press conference to try to explain her error of not having Brookfield in county total.

Ta da!
