6. Bush damaged the GOP brand for moderate cons
When Obama ran in 08 he gave them an out to become Democrats with his campaign BS about reaching across the aisle, sort of a reverse of the Reagan Democrats from 1980.

If Obama had been the progressive he presented himself as they would have gone back, but......

Maybe I tend to filter them out? I tend to see more fed-up, getting it types who are on the verge of a revolutionary mindset.

We all know that the current political rhetoric, (thanks to the continued subscriptions to corporate media via cable and a satellite) has morphed just about every concept we once could easily define into something that is garbled and easily manipulated by talking heads in a way that expertly diffuses clear understanding in order to dissuade and dis-empower reasonable dissent. The machine is one, or more, steps ahead of us and a lot of money and manpower goes into the process of manufacturing consent and decimating opposition to what truly imperils us today.
