Whoa. NBC/WSJ poll: Trump tied for 2nd in 2012 GOP field

Mark Murray writes:"You're fired" isn't a message Republican primary voters and Tea Party supporters are telling real-estate mogul Donald Trump, at least not yet.

According to the latest national NBC/WSJ poll, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney leads the hypothetical 2012 GOP pack with support from 21 percent of Republican primary voters -- followed by Trump and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee at 17 percent each, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 11 percent and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin at 10 percent.

Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty is at 6 percent, Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann gets 5 percent, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum receives 3 percent and Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour gets 1 percent.

Strikingly, Trump -- who has received a considerable amount of attention for incorrectly stating that President Obama wasn't born in the U.S. -- finishes first among Tea Party supporters (at 20 percent), followed by Romney (17 percent), Huckabee (14 percent), Palin (12 percent) and Gingrich (9 percent).

1. lol -- still very early, though
He's got better name recognition than any of them, and I think that's a factor here.

4. I am loving this
The joke candidate is ahead in the polls.

The Republican Party has become a joke. Trump, Bachmann, Palin, Newt. What the hell are they thinking? Are they just planning to offer up some sacrificial lamb in 2012 and try to regroup for 2016? It's beginning to look like it.

7. Right, cuz he's a 'bizness-man'
That's the reasoning I heard for voting for Snyder here in MI. Meanwhile, Snyder is dismantling the state and is deciding who to sell the Great Lakes to.

9. Here's the inconsistency:
My father would vote for Trump but at the same time, he HATES anyone with an MBA (not that Trump uses it to his advantage sufficiently). He thinks MBAs have screwed up this country big time.

11. It fits my theory perfectly...
The GOTP will only run expendable candidates against Obama... and much more blatantly than they did with McCain/Palin, meaning we know full well Trump is a blithering idiot long before the race.

how Trump polls with independents. They're the ones who decide elections.
