22. I hate these detailed arguments
I don't have time to read such prolixity.

Couldn't it just be N and Y instead of making me read all those extra letters?

4. Honestly, if the GOP gets back in power... I'm done
I'll always vote democratic, but I won't be a part of a clique that self destructs every time a democratic president gets in office.

7. Back to the unity of the '04 primaries? Pelosi and Reid's '06 Congress?
I must have frequented a different board. :D People are equally united against the GOP, I think, but levels of expectation (and disappointment) for '09-'10 in particular varied really, really widely for people here. Some were expecting Clinton 2.0, others were expecting something more. Recall those who expected Pelosi to begin impeachment hearings? Or those who were convinced Dean had Iowa nailed?

(No intention of denigrating any of the sentiments described above)

13. If the GOP is back in power this country will remain about the same.
Edited on Tue Apr-05-11 12:25 AM by Lucian
Corporate interests will be on the forefront, our interests will be in the garbage.

How is that different from today?

Let's not get too big picture to note that for a great number of people, a better US president means an enormous amount.

19. I was expecting a Clinton-style presidency, and that's essentially what I got
What I didn't expect is how horribly disappointed and pissed off I would feel, not in Obama alone but the whole party. But my point remains--as Chomsky says, the power of the office magnifies what seem to be small differences to some. In the event, those differences can mean a great deal.

17. The sooner the GOP is back in power, the sooner
we can start about having a real Dem in office. If we get more fake Dem bullshit until 2016 we won't see another Dem in office for eight years after that, or so I worry.

21. Thank you for your concern.
You couldn't possibly be considered as contributing in any way to the disruption. As for division, this is what democracy looks like. A lotta different opinions, then we vote. Then we argue about the vote.

23. The difference between what we now have and a Democracy is in a Democracy
the consent of the governed is taken into consideration. We just think we have a voice when we vote.

Pay attention to what Obama says he will do and contrast that to what he has done so far as President. Please try to keep an open mind, at least till it dawns on you there seems to be a disconnect between the rhetoric and the action.

I voted for a Centrist Liberal and we got a Right of center, sometimes no so lite, Republican.

But I have my doubts about that. Surely there would be a group of humans who would worship them, assuming they were intent on our demise.
