I miss the good ol' days of G.W.Bush
I don't post much here but I read DU every single day for news
(it's a great source for news) of course I frequently read the
comments left by other members. Oh sure- many of those
comments mean nothing. There are plenty of K's and plenty of
R's. Plenty of plus this -and plenty of plus that- but there
are also plenty of very thoughtful;interesting and
intelligent comments. Comments that make me feel like I'm not
alone and not crazy.

At least- that is how I felt back in the GWB days

lately, I feel alienated. Lately, I feel alone again. Lately,
I feel like everything I thought Du was- is the opposite of
what DU is.

You see- when we were all united against GWB, I felt like we
were all here for good. We were all united against the worst
of the modern world. But now I ask myself, what unites us?

Certainly the policies and actions (or lack thereof)of
President Obama do not unite us. They divide us. And it
forces me to realize that our love of progressivism (spell
check says its not a word) did not unite us. Our disdain of
GWB united us. If my reasoning is correct- then the next
logical questions are
-which do love more?- progressivism (spellcheck on DU says
its not a word-very interesting) or D's after peoples names.
Which do we fear more-Our own progressive ideas and calling
them such or the desperate despicable opportunists who would
switch "political ideology" at the first hint of
dissent?
I could ask questions like these all night long but 2 are
good enough to prove my point (to those who will listen)
At some point , we will have to concede that there are those
among us who cannot let go of the dream. Who cannot admit
they've been tricked by the corporate elite, who will never
acknowledge that a "D" behind your name means
nothing without appropriate actions. Those people might be
lost forever because they've bought into the fear of someone
with an "R" behind their name being the worst
choice. They've bought into the threat of something worse
than a radically conservative democrat ruling over their
lives.
The people supporting Obama are fear mongers herding us into
an ever smaller space until only the smartest ones remain and
then we can all be slaughtered so that the neo-con
conservative psychopaths can have free rein over the stupid
proles left standing.- Sorry for using emotional language. I
just feel very passionate about the subject because it seems
so obvious and yet very little is said about it or supported
here.
Back to my original thesis.
I miss the GWB days because at least then- we were all united
by hate and disgust and now we are divided by the same thing.
Where do we go from here? It seemed so simple back in the
GWB days and now it's very complicated.
I will never support Obama in any way (I loved Obama when He
became president, now I only see him as a corporate tool) and
No neocon right wing pseudo-dem conservative fear mongering
(vote for Obama or else) will ever convince me otherwise
Call me a whiner -in about 8 years I have made less than 30
comments on DU even though I read it every single day.
Call me a troll- Ok so Ive only posted less 30 comments in
almost a decade. It doesn't make me a troll it makes me
judicious (in my own mind anyway)
At the end of the day-Obama supporters are supporting a
neo-con corporate agenda and I'll have no part of it.
Go ahead and use fear to make people who may be on the fence
vote for him. Go ahead and use intimidation. It makes you no
better than the republicans.
But I beg you, try appealing to dems on what he has done.
Or better yet on what he has promised to do-and done.
You're nothing without fear. It's all you've got because
Obama turns out not to be a man of the people but a man of
the corporations. And without fear you're nothing-just like
the republicans.
So Ill say it again. I miss the days of GWB because back
then, I loved you all. I felt like we all had a connection. I
felt like we could change the world. Now I realize that a
great percentage of you are just as easily manipulated my
emotions such as fear as the idiot christian right.
So go ahead and tell me that I'm the fringe of the fringe
because I have enough self-confidence and self esteem to know
that I am not.
Go ahead and keep telling yourselves that you're keeping the
letter "D" in the fight by being a neocon lackey. I
wont have any part of it and you're juvenile fear tactics
won't work on me because in my life Ive had much greater
adversaries than name callers- strong language users and fear
mongers-so do your worst. I'm one monkey you'll never scare
over
but i miss the good ol' days of GbW bush when I thought we
all loved each other. When I thought we all had something in
common. Now I see the truth-I embrace idealism-you embrace
fear.
FUCK ALL OF YOU-it's on!!!!

1. You might start by double spacing your text.
It's very hard to read, and I wanted to read it. Also the plain text looks weird.

Just so you know...

:hi:

2. hmm...
Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...

And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing.

And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin - give the audience a grin
Enjoy it - it's your last chance anyhow.

So always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath

Life's a piece of shit
When you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.

And always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the right side of life...
(Come on guys, cheer up!)
Always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the bright side of life...
(Worse things happen at sea, you know.)
Always look on the bright side of life...
(I mean - what have you got to lose?)
(You know, you come from nothing - you're going back to nothing.
What have you lost? Nothing!)
Always look on the right side of life...

6. since you've called me a "fear monger" among other things
I guess its only fair to ask you how it is that you've been here for almost a decade but your profile says you've been here since 2009? Not accusing, just asking.

By the way, being confident in your views doesn't make them less fringe. It just means you are confident member of the fringe. Nothing wrong with that.

Finally, being motivated by fear isn't such a bad thing when you look at what the repubs have been up to since last November, both in the states and in Congress. I'm sorry if you are one of those that can't see the difference between Obama and Huckabee or Sotoamayor and Kagan on the one hand and Alito and Roberts on the other. While I enthusiastically supported Obama n 2008 and will enthusiastically support him in 2012, I would have enthusiastically supported any of the leading Democrat candidates in 2008 for no less of a reason than fear: fear of what would happen if McCain/Palin had been elected. That's really not that different than being motivated by dislike of Bush.

9. Well...
Some of what you said has merit - but it is overwhelmed by the fact you demonstrated a clear contempt for a large number of us. It is overwhelmed by your ending statement - which wasn't much of a statement.

I may fight like mad with people I think support the (D) simply because it's a "D". I may argue constantly with the corruption I see in the democratic party, I may be way left of center... but at the end of the day, I think most of us here want the same things. It is the means to accomplish our goals that is generally disputed.

Hell, I'll even support Obama because the idea of a Right wing President with a right wing congress (and possibly, in the future, Senate) scares the piss out of me. If that's wrong or moronic, then I'm wrong and moronic.
