1. I disagree with him strongly. doesn't
mean I still don't respect him. And though I don't care for much of what Obama's been doing, I don't support a primary challenge.

Hate to confuse you and blow your silly assumptions sky high. Oh, wait a minute. No I don't.

2. So in your view we should be policemen of the world. I know you will say this is the UN, but the
reality is that it is purely a political move for oil, and to overthrow kadafi(sic)

Otherwise, similar actions would have been take in Sudan or other parts of the world.

4. Not my point...
I'm reflecting on the apparent desire for ideological purity some people have here, AND the apparent belief that some political leaders (Dean, Kucinich, Feingold, Sanders) are immune from change in their positions; reality has an unpleasant habit of getting in the way and needing to be dealt with.

5. Interesting observation. However, isn't ideological purity in the eyes of the beholder?
I am sure those that believe in ideological purity would also be able to justify a deviation from that, depending on the issue?

10. Please send link...
That provides evidence that Obama us doing this for oil...send me the evidence. With Bush there was plenty of hard evidence that the Iraq war was about oil. There is no evidence of that here....if it was about oil Obama would be going all the way here, not simply setting up a no fly zone, and he would not be making plans for the US to take a back seat role in a matter of days.

The things said here about Obama are crazy and not based in facts. DU is going into the toilet!

15. It isn't just a no fly zone, those Tomahawk missiles are hitting more than aircraft. Expressing

opinions is what DU is all about. If you see discourse that you do not agree with, it does NOT mean that DU is going into the toilet, it means you don't agree with someone else's position

17. not sure how much you know about no fly zones....
but to establish one and to continue the no fly zone, you need to hit targets other than aircraft....

3. If all this is making you sick, look at it this way...
If OUR military is OVER THERE, fighting THEM...OUR Military won't be OVER HERE, fighting US.

Even the ancient Romans understood this aspect of maintaining a proper empire. We really don't want our military on THIS side of the Rubicon, where governors will use it to suppress the last remnant unions...

The dogs of war MUST be fed and their masters MUST prosper.

Let THOSE WHO ARE OVER THERE serve as dog food scrapple under the ruse of liberation.

Then the Koch's will dine and piss on us, providing a shower of life-giving nitrogen rich urine that will grow goodness all around us.

See?

No?

Well, then just follow the yellow-brick road Spartacus...

6. Yeah, Dean should have joined the gang bashing of Obama . . .
Edited on Wed Mar-23-11 08:06 AM by janet118
for going to So. America while we are at war and Japan is melting.

Scarborough was trying to shout down Dean for defending Obama's trip to So. America to drum up some business for America. While Joe Klein, Mike Barnicle and Pat Buchanan raved on about Obama's lack of sensitivity to the "optics" of "middle-class" Americans who need jobs and comparing Obama's lowered poll numbers to the high ones other "war" presidents had, Dean (with a bit of help from Mika) said that Obama had the ability to handle more than one thing at once.

I can barely watch Scarborough et al and I only tuned in to hear Dean. They change their views daily so they can bash Obama - last week Obama was too slow to go into Libya, now he shouldn't have gone in and/or should have waited for Congressional approval before making a move (can you imagine the "optics" of that battle) and he should spend all his time sitting in the war room getting briefed. They have the same GOP agenda as Boehner & McConnell - bash and undermine Obama so that one of their stooges might have a chance of beating him in 2012.

I disagree with Obama and Dean at times, but I learned something from unions and Republicans. You stick together when your enemies are attacking one of your own.

Unfortunately, many here have joined the enemies in attacking Obama even without any facts to back it up...they hate Obama with a passion and hold him to a different standard than past dem presidents. Trying to think of the one main difference between Obama and past dem presidents....hmmmmm.....
