1. Pretty sure the only declared war is the war on drugs.
So, one.

3. We are engaged in military actions in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Libya
and if it involves our military killing other human beings, I call it "war" (which may also include the nebulous "war on drugs").

10. Hmm, but aren't Afghanistan and Pakistan two fronts in a single conflict?
On the other hand, I'm not sure we aren't doing something in Yemen.

6. The cartoon in the OP is actually wrong. The U.S. Senate passed a resolution saying what they want
Edited on Tue Mar-22-11 04:45 PM by Tx4obama
Op with link to resolution text: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

And comment #10 with text of resolution posted:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

The U.S. Senate is getting EXACTLY what they asked for...

Excerpt from resolution:

(7) urges the United Nations Security Council to take such further action as may be necessary to protect civilians in Libya from attack, including the possible imposition of a no-fly zone over Libyan territory;

SNIP

(11) welcomes the outreach that has begun by the United States Government to Libyan opposition figures and supports an orderly, irreversible transition to a legitimate democratic government in Libya.

7. War on Drugs?
Do we count the War on Drugs?

How about the war against the poor?

Don't forget the War on Terror.

9. I count "on Drugs" and "on Terror" as metaphors.
...especially since Bush's handlers had to actually be on drugs when they cooked up the War on Terror marketing campaign. But if we go with Yemen, it's four currently, by my count. Not sure if Yemen makes the cut, however.

We have Special Forces actively assisting government troops in various countries engaging this "war on drugs".

15. Well, Since Iraq is More or Less a Peaceful Occupation Now
and Libya is a short-term air campaign, I would say only Afghanistan qualifies.
